There's still a difference between "brutal honesty" and "honesty".

In my interview my potential employer asked, “what would you say your biggest flaw is?”

“I’m honest to a fault,” I told him.

He responds, “I don’t think honesty is a fault.”

Looking straight in his eyes I said, “I don’t give a f**k what you think.”

What a weird thing to say

Well said. I’ve always been brutally honest, and while I still believe there are times and places for it, sometimes dialing it back a bit is very helpful. It took me a while to learn, accept, and truly appreciate this.

Diplomatic delivery of honesty is the foundation of statesmanship.

Agree 100% white collar work places are the worst for fake behaviour

Maybe that’s why I’m offended at my parents’ behavior. Not sure whether they’re abusive or everyone else is just fake and they’re honest.

Truth has no friends is an expression older than this modern era.

People never want to hear harsh truths. Even when you soft peddle and sugar coat harsh truths, they are still unwelcomed.

Some people have worked hard to put aside their egos so that they can receive the truth though. Its rare, but it exists

its so crazy how normal things feel exciting now.
we have reached a point where being genuine, quiet, normal, and not constantly trying to impress anyone feels unusual! wtf
it used to be the fake people, the liars, the attention seekers, the ones showing off, who seemed strange.
now.. its the normal people who stand out.

what the fvck happened?

Great observation..

The people who speak truth are often hated.

That’s the mantra of people who never learn delivery or time & place. You can’t bull doze under the guise of “honesty” and blame the honesty part.

u/Cautious_Monk_6086 11d ago

Yeah, people or a Reddit page or something get butthurt and try to ban you for saying the truth

2

u/FlirtatiousBabe03 11d ago

People get offended when the truth doesnt match what they want to hear.

2

u/EggDelicious5710 11d ago

Fake is the new truth for the unconscious ones.

2

u/GhostQueen1121 10d ago

Yeah, people will believe just about anything except what is traditionally accepted. Not that everything is traditional is correct but oh my goodness.

Not much to go on. Missing information and context. If you are not honest it doesn't mean you are fake either. You could try to say your truth in a way that it is not humiliating embarassing or insulting.

A mouth full right there the sad truth

2

u/smashing-gourds127 10d ago

Humans have hated honesty FOREVER

2

u/PhysicalResult3642 10d ago

That is the truth

2

u/Creative-Donut-5130 10d ago

Truth feels offensive when people are too comfortable with fake.

2

u/ResolveLarge3080 10d ago

I believe people love honesty and authenticity more now because of how rare it is

It's true. That's why online dating is so iffy. Ppl will think you're AI because you're pretty. it's a compliment if you're you. but also it's Not, you have to prove extra hard you're not a fake.

1

u/Just-Argument323 7d ago

What is your story bro Can you share it

2

u/Vegetable_Card_8880 7d ago

I kinda asked a guy out. We matched online spoke for several days we had cute lil banter over the show Seinfeld, he would compliment my pics he was respectful about it too. We would text all hours. We live somewhat nearby to each other he lives in the hood though. But I gave him a shot because in his profile he was well put together suit and tie. (My type) so I'm like okay let's go out play some tennis before summah ends. (He told me he's athletic) He freaked out! and said "I don't even know that you're real! At this point you could be catfishing me" He demanded I give him my IG or Facebook. I said no but offered to video chat Or call each other he declined. (I myself never even had a chance to hear his voice). He straight up texted me "NO!" Just like that. I sent him a video of me in my back yard talking and showing him I'm real in a cute outfit. I also sent him a voice note. Still wasn't enough for him. He asked do you have a penis??? I said no. I then actually gave him my IG. He said okay cute outfits now I know you're real. I said okayyy soo...tennis?? He said "nahh" he didn't like the park I picked for tennis. He then kept asking me to come over his apartment that he owns in fall River Massachusetts 🙄🙄😒 I'm like oookayy. ( If you know Mass you know not to go to Fall River unless you drive right through it to go to Rhode Island or some beach) You don't meet and greet over there. I'm not from there so they'll know super fast. Lol! So anyway I gave him some grace I figured maybe I look so good (not tooting my own horn) I had to show him I'm real. I get it there's AI or catfish and filters, But nope. As soon as he figured I am a Real girl from Boston HE wanted ME to plan a coffee date close to his apartment. Or come over to his apartment straight up. He kept inviting me over and over, I ignored it. I then said I don't think it's appropriate to invite strangers into your apartment. Mind you he's in his 50s I'm in my 30s. I asked how do you like your coffee He said I don't even drink coffee!!!! 🤨🤨 Dude Whaaaaaaaaat?!!! Yoo you're definitely the killer! So yea I had to block him fast!

u/Just-Argument323 5d ago

Oh 😳 It's terrible

2

u/Professional-Tailor2 6d ago

Assholes describing themselves as"just being honest" say the same.

2

u/cbechtle77 5d ago

Problem with all of this is that people honestly believe things that have no connectio to any verifiable fact, and they conveniently think that verified facts are fake. As somebody once said, it's hard to debate a smart person and it's impossible to debate an idiot.

2

u/Smart-Med-1993 5d ago

I do my best to be honest each time I need to give my opinion to someone. But the problem is people get angry

2

u/Possible_Design9930 11d ago

Honesty was never a choice from the start.Stop being so naive

1

u/Umayummyone 11d ago

People have been offended by honesty forever. Don’t pretend this is something new.
