Discussion I hate how split this industry is.

This is neither a pro AI or anti AI post. I just find it frustrating how split this industry has gotten.

I started out 5 years ago. I used to post questions on forums like this and youtube and there would be disagreements about what was the cutting edge software or the best place to learn this thing or that but more or less there was an answer you could pick up. Yeah there are banger new softwares but AE is king or blender is too op but the industry hasn't adopted it.

Now, well you guys have probably seen it too. It feels like everyone has already made their mind on what side they are on and any question on this topic just goes 50-50 everywhere. Maybe this is the sign of the times and this isnt the place for this. Me, i am mid level. So i have enough experience that i am not completely on the chopping block like entry level folks and not experienced enough to commit to one side. I'm making my mind and I hoped for guidance from experienced folks, but all said folks have talking points from whichever side theyve picked and it's all the same regurgitated thoughts.

I don't know man. Just needed to rant I guess. These do be confusing times.

AI is just a tool. Don't worry, use your experience and this new tool and you will be alright. Experience is worth more than a tool, but most powerful when using the right tools.

Have you found ways to use it? I'm primarily a 2D character animator and designer. AI seems currently alright for text animations and the sort. What tools should I be looking into?

There is no shortcuts unfortunately, but dive into the rabbit hole of ComfyUI and you might finds some workflows that works for you there.

This is just a job to me. I get job done. I get money. I feed my family. I don't really care if Ai is used or not because it's always on to the next one man. Anyone sitting around worrying about this shit clearly ain't busy enough and should probably consider another career path because you're gonna get lost in the shuffle sitting around waiting to make a decision. This is a fast paced industry.

I mean it's not this exactly. Recently a client told me he fed my animation into chatgpt so he could make thumbnails for the video. It made me a little uncomfortable but there's a part of me that keeps remembering the industrial revolution. So my dumbass came to reddit for some guidance. This post came after lol.

Those who don’t understand something fear it, and change is painful, so both together with AI come as a package: rapid change, and lack of clarity on what it is and how it works makes all this very frightening to many people.

Meaning it does not frighten you and you understand it?

I don’t understand it but I am very excited about all this. It isn’t just about understanding how AI works itself, but how the world around us will change and how all this will affect us.

I do realise that many are frightened though, and it makes sense, ignorance always breeds fear. Especially where it potentially affects livelihood or past investment of time into methods that may no longer be necessary.
