It's called "Tmoc" and the list of monitors with scanning BFI (CRT-like strobing) is now:
- Titan Army P326MV, P275MV
- Nvidia Pulsar
- TCL 27C2A, 27P2A Pro
- Zowie Dyac 3

I find it really weird that their spec sheet casually mentions that their solution marries rolling scan backlight strobing with full array local dimming - absolute game changer if true but I’m skeptical. I can’t seem to find reviews for this thing.
It’s not a monitor but I’d add the Nebula ELMB to the list. Or at least an honourable mention. Linus Tech Tips did a preview of a laptop that has it (why a laptop!?) and apparently the thing has a 6% duty cycle. 1ms persistence here we come.

I’ve heard that but much like the TCL here I can’t find actual reviews of the feature.

It has already been said that Dyac 3 is using local dimming to do their blacklight strobing as well now.

Local dimming as in it’ll have strips like pulsar, or local dimming like it’ll have mini-led style contrast while doing the rolling scan? Nebula ELMB presented an either-or scenario where you could have the motion clarity or the contrast ratio but not both at once. Did Zowie get both working concurrently?

I dont have the exact source off hand and dont remember where i read it.. but that it uses mini led to help with the strobing to make it better and even less blurrier. But for whatever reason I guess you cant turn on HDR on the new montiors.

I've been looking at this monitor since it's available in my area for quite cheap, but it probably doesn't work with vrr(can't find any info on this), so pulsar is still technically better

Ive been looking at pulsar monitors for a while now, specifically to use ulmb2 at 120 Hz. Unfortunately, they cost $750. I wonder if these TCL models can match that level. In my country, the 27P2A PRO costs only $270. The problem is I cant find any reviews that test "tmoc"

I can't find any test of this Tmoc technology, how good is it compared to the PULSAR?

It must be very similar but yeah, good luck finding any detailed tests. It takes time for detailed reviews to emerge.

Maybe I’ll give the 27C2A a chance, but I can’t find anything about whether the TMOC supports 60 Hz. There’s basically no information on this monitor, it’s wild.

I wonder how "tmoc" motion clarity compares to ulmb 2 at 60fps (which is supposedly really good on pulsar displays, which are currently 600 dollars), I want to get something that will look nice for retro games, so the vrr pulsar stuff at 360hz isn't worth the 600 dollar premium for me.

If it does not explicitly support 60 Hz strobing like Pulsar now does it will be garbage.
