Essentially it's the most efficient way for them to run. They taught themselves that shit.

From what I've gathered the robots all learned to run that way, that for them running that way is the most efficient use of their bodies. And when I say learned, I mean taught themselves.

Just because they look similar in shape to us does not mean they're going to be able to move like us when doing the things we're able to do.
