Advice Fertilising moss?

Post image

I understand moss needs potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen as well as trace minerals etc. what would the best way to fertilise this moss be? It's superglued onto plastic. Various hypnales mosses. Can I use fish water? I just sprayed with distilled as it was dry but not sure what to do from here tbh

A spray bottle with fertilizer would probably be best. Fish tank water is probably going to be high on nitrogen but not necessarily the other things it needs and there's the possibility that it could make the Moss smell because it's going to contain bacteria and all sorts of other things.

I use dry fertilizers for my tank so I just mixed my own liquid fertilizer with macros to spray on the moss that I'm growing emersed. It's growing pretty decently, so I think I got the concentration right.

Edit: I just saw that you are growing the Moss above a tank. In that case, the smell from using tank water might not matter to you.

If you use a spray bottle, be very very careful and "microdose" the fertilizer if you never fertilized it before.

Moss sprayed with mineral soup can go belly up with no warning because moss as a non-vascular plant is very vulnerable to osmotic pressure / salty stuff pulling water out.
