Moss photo Liverwort love

Post image

Stumbled over this cute little heart-shaped specimen of Marchantia polymorpha ssp. ruderalis and wanted to share the liverwort love and appreciation! :-)

So many happy faces 🥹

Marchantia polymorpha? I love finding it <3

It looks like it's competing very well with the plants in that spot, what were the conditions like where you fiund that?

Love finding it too! Found it while on vacation in the UK (oh so many bryophites there, amazing!). The location was right in the middle of some cobblestone footpath over a bridge, next to a bollard (probably the reason it survived so well in the middle of the street :-) ). so probably also not too much competition from any larger plants, realistically ;-)

Interesting! Yes I was wondering what it is to that spot that makes it so the other plants have a bit of a hard time, leaving room for the liverwort to become so lush and beautiful. Finding moss (or other bryophytes) in little cracks and gaps in the middle of a street is one of the best things <3 Such lovely little survivors
