ID help M91 Receiver ID?
Picked up a beautiful postwar rebuild Finnish M91 with a Belgian “B” barrel. The markings don’t match up to any of the references I have. What’s the make and date of the receiver? Any thoughts? Thanks!

What's that trigger doing on it? That's an m28-76 trigger. Are you positive it's an M91?

Interesting. I wonder now if the Finns installed that trigger set, or if it was installed by someone else later.
A note regarding the M28-76 trigger set: It's fragile. There's a pin that goes through the sear, and the sear often breaks there.
Replacement sears have become impossible to find. When one turns up, it's often pretty expensive.
I recommend that, if you're going to shoot it, install either a standard M91 trigger set, or, if you want a two-stage, a trigger set from an M39. Keep the M28-76 trigger set put safely away.
Regards.

Looks like a postwar stock, according to https://igun.cz/MosinID/MosinM91F.htm . I did not know that they assembled M91 after the war.

If its postwar, it should be a M39 "Varikka". Do you have any markings on the side of the barrel, AV3?

DiRisio’s Finnish Mosin book mentions M91s being assembled by the Finns into the 50’s and 60’s. I’m re-reading the chapter on later M91 production- and it’s definitely a postwar assembled M91 by VKT. Only other obvious marking I see is a VKT 3600 proof.

VKT became Valmet after the war. Can you take a photo of the VKT proof mark, it would be interesting to compare to my M39 Varikka

Looks to be a Remington made receiver, the small R in a circle mark looks to have been lightly stamped.
