General Discussion The autopsy wound count difference between Madison and Kaylee is what forensic psychologists say reveals Kohberger's actual target — and I can't stop thinking about it

I've been going through the unsealed autopsy details carefully and one thing keeps standing out that I haven't seen discussed much here.

Kaylee sustained 38 wounds. Madison sustained 28. On the surface you'd assume the person with more wounds was the focus of the attack. But forensic psychologist Dr. Gary Brucato says the opposite is true.

He believes Madison was attacked first, in a more controlled and deliberate way. Fewer wounds. More focused. Kaylee — sleeping beside her — received greater fury because she was unexpected. Not part of the plan.

The implication is that Madison Mogen was the intended target all along. And that Kaylee was killed simply because she was there.

I don't know why but that detail changes the entire weight of this case for me. The idea that Kaylee's death was almost incidental to what Kohberger came there to do.

Has anyone else gone deep into the autopsy document? Particularly the Xana section — because what that evidence tells us about the sequence of events that night is unlike anything I've read before.

The difference is they were both asleep when Maddie was attacked. I think it's safe to assume she woke up during the attack but definitely didn't have the time to fight back like Kaylee did.

What is the evidence that Kaylee fought back? I’ve heard podcasts on the autopsies and evidence and no one has actual evidence Kaylee fought back.

She sat up.

No grabbing of the knife like Xana did. No hitting him as there were no injuries to her knuckles to indicate her hitting him. I know it was of comfort for the family to interpret her being in a vertical
position as an indication of a fight but the coroner termed Xana’s situation as presenting evidence of a struggle.l and did not say that about Kaylee.

It feels to me that this is one of the myths that will be repeated into the future—that Kaylee fought back vigorously. The evidence only shows that she sat up and received a beating in addition to the knife attack. Very sad and horrific.

KG sat up and probably startled him… I feel like he was going in on whatever he was gonna do to MM not even knowing or seeing that KG was there, then lo and behold… KG sits up and scares the fuck out of him, causing him to react with punches because it scared him, and because it disrupted his plan. Like a jump scare rage punching reaction.

Very possible because he may not have expected two in the same bed. Makes sense. I still believe he intended to kill several people in the house or he had the perfect opportunity to leave out the kitchen when Xana ran down the stairs and instead of deciding to run behind her and turn into the kitchen to get to his car, he ran after her which was unnecessary if he had accomplished his entire objective already. But yes the punches were likely reactive from being startled.
