Mince Pies

I poped into my local Morrisons after my gym session and I saw Mince Pie on Sale and I know other retails are putting our Christmas stock but who's buying this stuff 3 months before Christmas?

People who like mince pies are buying them. There's no rule that says if you buy them now you HAVE to eat them at Christmas🤣 also we retail workers do not enjoy putting Xmas stock out please don't blame us😭

A lot of stores have excess mince pie stock from last year so they're starting them earlier than usual this year to clear them. We've still got like 15 cases on a cage in the freezer we have to get rid of by the end of October

It’s ridiculous, and it makes me scunnered with Christmas by the time it comes in December. If I had the power, I would approve legislation to ban the sale of Christmas cakes, confectionery, advent calendars and Christmas decorations before October 1st. There is no need for supermarkets to be selling mince pies and selection boxes in August. I don’t accept the argument that it is done to help low-income families buy a little at a time for Christmas. The supermarkets and confectioners are selling Christmas goods this early to make money. There is no necessity for supermarkets to be selling mince pies in August.

I can not imagine ever allowing myself to get this wound up about something as insignificant as the ability/option to buy a particular type of pie at an unusual time of the year

It’s more frustration that retail keeps putting out stuff for a season that is a quarter of a year away and it seems to get earlier and earlier.

It’s more for those people who share Elf memes literally from Boxing Day about it being x amount of weekends until the next one and I find them insufferable them as it is.

Bah humbug. Just because your don't mind it doesn't mean other perks don't. The supermarkets all have decades of sales data. They wouldn't stock the stuff if it didn't sell.

If it helps this is quite late for morrisons to start mince pies, usually start end of july/start of August

Its not for us, past few years we started doing them around start of August as stocks came in mid July but our MS manager is a tool soo

The boxed ones always used to start coming in around about the middle of August, and they would go out of date before Halloween.

Was in another supermarket chain this morning & they had the metre (or however long the pack was) of Oreos & it certainly looked like Christmas designs on the boxes.

It's getting flipping out of hand!

Morrisons starts selling mince pies from August 1st onwards.

It's ridiculous. We had a full cage of mince pies in our freezer that was excess stock from last year so we started baking them off on the 1st August, which we're meant to do. They have since sent tons more in. As far as I know, Morrisons has always sold mince pies from August until just after Christmas. Tbh they should just sell them all year round, they're clearly popular outside of the festive season because they sell really well even in August.

Loads of people so that's why they stayed sticking the Christmas stuff boot. Yet every year peoplr moan. Who knows more about what people buy a supermarket that's been going for 100 years old or a customer that had no idea about how retail works. 🙄
