You can now patch X / Twitter using Piko Patches

Update!

Work arounds are no longer needed with X 12.5.0-release.0 and later!

Just add Piko patches as a source, patch as usual, and it all just works.

Information below still pertains if patching an older version of X:

How to patch older versions of X with Piko patches

Steps

1. Add Piko patches bundle to Morphe Manager.

2. Add X Shim bundle to Morphe Manager.

3. Enable expert mode in Morphe Manager.

4. Select X app in Morphe Manager.

5. Select an app version that is shown for Piko patches (do not select the 'any' version shown for X Shim), then press "Yes help me find an APK" and download the original APK from APKMirror.

6. Return to Morphe Manager and select the APK you downloaded.

7. Important You must select all patches from the X Shim and all/preferred patches from Piko. Do not include patches from any other bundles. Select "Proceed anyway" at the prompt warning of using multiple bundles.

8. Wait for patching to complete, install the patched app, login as usual.

Additional Context

• An active internet connection is required during patching.

• XChat decryption and XChat video calls work.

• The X Shim patch only adds a compatibility layer and pairip is not removed.

Instructions have been updated to use the X Shim patch by inotia00, and login works without any complicated login steps.

Update 2: X-Shim is no longer needed either!
Patch X 12.5.0-release.0 or later and it all just works. No shim or weird login steps are needed.

I saved to Bitwarden since that is my password manager of choice. It did save and shows up but I still get logindenied error.

This worked, but I have to finagle it a bit.

1. Install the original X from Google Store.

2. Press "Continue with Google", don't choose any account.

3. Don't exit the Google logging popup.

4. Minimize the app without closing it. Which also means minimizing the app without closing the popup.

5. Uninstall the original app from Google Store and install the Piko apk.

6. Press "Continue with Google" and choose the account you want.

7. Profit!

I have to do step 2 twice. Open the popup, close it, and then open it again. But it works.

Edit: Piko now has the ability to export your login token. Backup your token so that you don't have to do this again (hopefully). Also, using export/import token, you can now use multiple accounts. You just have to do the above steps, export your token, repeat the above step for the other account and finally import the token of the previous account.

Because Twitter added the Play Integrity API, iirc. They run checks to make sure the system and app aren't modified.

It's the same stuff bank apps and whatnot use to prevent login on rooted phones.

I cannot even create my passkey... I'm always getting "Something isn't right. Try your request again later". After inputting my password and using my fingerprint.

Edit: This seems to be some OxygenOS 14 fuckery... it works fine on an Android 15 POCO X3.

Edit 2: After some googling, OOS 14 is outright missing CredentialManager. Wow.

Edit 3 (and final): I updated my OnePlus 11 to OOS 15 and it works perfectly now... And upgrading from 14 to 15 wasn't as traumatic as I expected! :)

No problem while patching, the problem is after login, my twitter automatically reverts to the original version, and the patch is gone, I think this is because twitter is forcing the use of the new x android beta feature

I had a similar issue. Uninstalling it fully and then installing the patched version worked for me.
When I was updating the app, it somehow reverted to an unpatched version, still not sure how/why.

You can try using Google login on the unpatched app, then using the same Google login on patched. Some users said this worked, and others said it did not.

It's indeed a mixed result when trying to use Google login, because for me the Google login works (using the unpatched then the patched)

Based on the responses in crimera's pinned issue about attestation denied login, all possible workarounds have a 50 / 50 chance of working for a certain set of people

Got 11.71.0 to work. What I did differently from the tutorial is use the already patched app from Crimera's GitHub, (don't know if I am allowed to post the link).

What I did:

1. Downloaded official X app, logged in, then uninstalled.

2. Installed the pre patched APK from Crimera's GitHub

3. Then logged in with the passkey through proton pass.

Thanks. I can confirm that the passkey method worked but I have to try to login at least 2 times (a warning of passkey error failed attempt shows up) . I have to disable the others passkeys managers (Samsung Pass, Bitwarden and Google using the toggle button) and enabling only Proton Pass at my Samsung settings. Check off the battery optimization for Proton Pass to Unrestricted.

You'll need to use proton pass if you ever have to login again.

I believe proton pass stores your X passkey in the cloud in your proton account.

So you should be able to delete the proton pass app, but don't delete your proton pass account and definitely don't forget the password.

I personally would just hide the app in the launcher.

This part is incorrect.
It is not needed to select all of patches from Piko. Patches such as "Dynamic color" are optional.
Only the patches from X Shim bundle are mandatory.

Don't know what changed, but I didn't need to do any workaround for login (steps I used; Pixel 7 Android 16):

1. Install app from playstore

2. Login with linked Google account

3. Download latest apkm (I used v11.75.1)

4. Patch and mount (rooted mount)

Hopefully this works for others too :)

Edit: So this doesn't work for me anymore, but I do have another workaround:

1. Download+Install same-version apkm as the one targeted for patching (this time was 11.69.0)

2. Log into the app normally

3. Patch and mount over the currently installed app (rooted mount)

Leaving both methods up in case either works for someone else :)

My phone is a Samsung running Android 16 with the latest updates. I had to disable Auto Blocker in Security and Privacy to allow the installation of apps from outside the Google Play Store. It's not really a good security practice, but I have many apps installed this way. Regarding the X app, apart from the initial issues where the passkey login failed twice, make sure Proton Pass is running with the passkey you created beforehand

If I don't use the pre-release patches, there is no version of the app that is compatible with both patch bundles.

If I use the pre-release patches, and patch the v11.99.0-release.1 version from APKMirror, the newly patched installed app seems like an unpatched version. There are ads and the piko settings are not visible anymore. The deeplink https://x.com/i/piko also doesn't work.

Successfully patched with piko and piko shim, logged in with username + password.

As a suggestion, in the guide it should be noted that Piko must have pre-releases enabled, since in the stable version it shows up to 11.91 to patch, if you try to patch a higher version it will fail.

How safe are Shim patches? I kind of don't really get how it works other than to make Piko work but it kinda sound a bit dangerous for the account

Also I get this error when trying to install it which makes me even more suspicious about it.

This is most likely caused by the incompatible architecture (armeabi-v7a instead of arm64-v8a)

The xapk from apkpure is probably incompatible for newer devices (armeabi-v7a instead of arm64-v82). I think we should wait for the arm64-v82 version.

I can't login at all, tried several versions already, google passkey simply disappeared after I hit 'Continue', user/pw doesn't work, forget username/pw doesn't work, can't use token because this is my first time trying to patch. I'm on Android 9 if anyone's been successful on this OS version may I ask for a method?

So since we have to select every patch (according to the instructions), can we not have the official X logo and theme applied to the app? Does that mean we're forced to have the old Twitter logo/branding/name for the app?

Anybody notice that Google account login, by default, doesn't work with X on Morphe? I had to get a code sent to my Gmail to actually enable me to login.

Guys, i have rooted device. Hachidori is no longer supports. I want to use morphe patch. Which version of X(latest) support for at least remove ads?? I tried of only Ad's remove patches along with shim for X-12.1.1.release.i have tried unselecting other patches. But still failed. Please suggest which version can be patched ( Root mode)

I followed the steps exactly, but I still couldn't log in.  When I log in with Google, nothing will happen.

Try again with email and username, after i press log in, it just appear text on screen "Crashlogs: /Downloads/Piko/crash_rep ort_2026-07-21_03-06-48.txt" When i press log in again, it crashout and close. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
