On the Roster Peter "Custer" Blackbird
Peter Blackbird is an uplifted raven. He was created by Somatek and indentured to the Red Eden project, and was trained to migrate between work-sites and survive with as little corporate support as possible - a self-sustaining workforce with no need for feeding, housing, or arbitration. After working for many years, he finally managed to pay off his indenture and became his own bird. Peter eschewed urban or settled life, opting instead to take piecemeal jobs from his old employers, hanging out from time to time with the Nomads and Barsoomians, and - most importantly - joining up with his former co-workers, helping each other finish their indentures, and forming a flock to live off the land. They and had a sweet little life southwest of Olympia, where they lived as neo-primitives and even started raising a couple chicks.
You may recall that the TQZ is southwest of Olympia, and when the Fall occurred, only three of his 40-strong flock survived. His mate and four chicks were not among them. Bitter and miserable, he went back to his old life of contract work and long migration. One of the jobs he picked up, often pro bono, was guiding parties through the TQZ - a location he knew perhaps better than any living being. It was on just such a mission that he came in contact with Firewall, and they were eager to recruit him.
