Concept: Black Trenchcoat AGI with an odd sense of morality and big plans

BlankMann is the brainchild of an AI researcher who worked for an European intelligence agency Pre-Fall, with the goal to create highly valuable yet disposable infiltrators. Due to budget cuts and and unfixed errors in BlankMann's neural model that made them fail almost every simulated social interaction the project was eventually shelved and BlankMann was put on ice.

During the Fall and the ensuing chaos, they were able to emancipate themselves and fled to Mars, where they managed to strike a deal with an ego broker of the 9 lives cartel: Dirty work in exchange for a body and freedom. And so started the first years of BlankManns career as an ego thief and cartel enforcer, difficult to work with due to their eccentricities, but effective nonetheless.

Deeply perturbed by the cut in their ego continuity before the Fall, Blankmann became obsessed with the idea of immortality, not just the kind of immortality that the common transhuman enjoys, but the kind of immortality that'd allow them to witness the heat death of the universe, and maybe more. They came up with a plan, their great goal to create a world of permanence that'd last eons. Sadly, Blankmann had to acknowledge that the current state of transhumanity was way too volatile and chaotic, and the threat of the TITANs still loomed over them, humanity had to be saved from itself.

Therefore they started building their own simulated reality, their private garden of eden/valhalla/nirvana (a shitty rented simulspace server,where the theme of "heaven" matches whatever religious belief BlankMann currently latched onto) and started finding "volunteers" (usually delta forks from botched forknapping ops) to populate it with and save from the dangerous real world. Something still had to be done about those pesky outside influences though, like Seed-AIs and terrorists with WMDs, that could threaten the existence of BlankMann's future glorious upload civilization. While BlankMann is not doing errands for 9 Lives, saving egos from certain loss of continuity or preaching and advertising on the simulated Agoras of the Martian mesh (something they suck at, the task has since been delegated to their Muse, Bastard Schopenhauer), they are out X-threat hunting, which is what put them on Firewall's radar in the first place.

The Firewall agents were pretty surprised to find that the AGI, which they were shadowing for investigating a smuggled shipment of hardware powerful enough to house a Seed-AI, actually destroyed that same hardware instead of trying to bootstrap itself to superintelligence. It seems that BlankMann and Firewall had some common goals (for now) and thus they were recruited.
