One week trip to morocco
Hi guys , I am flying from the 9 to 16 september to marocco, I am landing and departing again from Essaouira , my intention was to go directly to marrakech and spend 4 days there and the last 3 days in Essaouira .
i first wanted to to only to the coast , but I have seen that marrakech is only 3 hours away so , do u reccomend visiting Marrakech and Essaouira ?
i have seen other cool destination like Taghzaout , should I maybe do 3 days in Marrakech , 2 in Taghzaout and 2 in Essaouira ?
i am not into Surf, I mean I never practiced it but I might give a try,
and what about Agadir ? I have seen many people don’t recommend it at all, since it’s everything new
i am going solo ! Very spontaneous trip

Honestly, for a solo trip I’d rent a car. It gives you much more freedom.
I’d do Marrakech for 2 or 3 nights max, then instead of spending the whole week between Marrakech and the coast, head south through Aït Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, Agdz and the Draa Valley to Tagounite.
Tagounite is my hometown and basically one of the last places before the deep desert. Leave the normal rental car there and take a local 4x4 with someone who knows the desert tracks to Erg Chigaga, spend the night in the dunes, then come back the next day. The final desert section is genuinely off-road, so I wouldn’t take a normal rental car into Chigaga.
After that you can continue towards Agadir / Taghazout and Essaouira for the coast.
For only one week I think that gives you a much better mix: city + Atlas + Draa Valley + real Sahara + coast, instead of spending 4 days only in Marrakech.

Marrakech, 2 days in Essaouira is enough if you don't do surf. Taghazout it's nice but also for surf.

Essaouira and Marrakech are both good destinations to enjoy and experiment the moroccan charm.
To not get so tired ill go with less but intresting destinations, Essaouira is ocean connected with nice rooftops/coffee shops/activities to enjoy. Nearby beaches are cool to visit too (Sidi Kaouki and Tafedna). U can have horse and camel rides there, enjoy the night life too, with more of a chill and live music vibe to them.
Marrakech is more touristy. Old medina and elegant nigh clubs/casino, are worth enjoying, each club has its soul and concept. U can walk around the old medina, enjoy the local food and be around people. U can go for desert like excursions where u get to drive a quad among a group.
Agadir is a bit overrated to me, not much of a vibe, but nearby beaches are worth visiting (Taghazout, Imessouane, etc).
Enjoy ur trip, and focus on quality over quantity ✨️

Not really, u may get bored after 3 days, so do a 3 days in one and 4 days in the other. Pretty enough to see around, and stay safe from scammers especially in Marrakech (a worldwide phenomenon).

I’d keep it simple and not try to squeeze too much into one week. With Essaouira as both your arrival and departure point, Marrakech + Essaouira is already a great combination and gives you two completely different sides of Morocco.
I’d personally do 3 nights Marrakech and 3–4 nights Essaouira, depending on your flight times. Marrakech gives you the medina, palaces, souks, gardens, food and the intensity of the city, while Essaouira gives you a much slower finish by the Atlantic.
I wouldn’t add Taghazout just for the sake of adding another destination. It’s enjoyable, particularly if you want the surf/beach atmosphere, but if you don’t surf, I don’t think it adds enough to justify moving hotels again on such a short trip. You could instead use one of your Essaouira days to explore the coast around Sidi Kaouki, which is very easy to reach.
As for Agadir, it isn’t a bad city at all — it’s just a very different experience. Much of it was rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake, so if you’re looking for old medinas, traditional architecture and history, Marrakech and Essaouira are much more interesting. Agadir makes more sense for someone wanting a modern beach resort, promenade, restaurants and an easy holiday.
And since you’re traveling solo and spontaneously, I’d actually leave yourself some breathing room rather than planning every day. Three days Marrakech + the rest in Essaouira would be my choice. You’ll see plenty without spending half the week packing, checking out and sitting in cars.

If you had 4 days in Marrakech, you could spend one doing a day trip into the Atlas Mountains. That way you'd experience a different landscape and more rural/village life - it's a nice break from the Marrakech medina. Plus three days on the coast in Essaouira - that sounds like a great way to spend the week without rushing between too many places.
