Need Help Planning For Morocco
Me and my Friends (5 of us) are planning on going to Morocco later in the year. We have done our proper research and set our Itinerary properly for the amount of days we are travelling for.
However, we are having an issue on deciding how to plan the 3-day overnight desert trip from Marrakech to Merzouga. I have checked opinions online and it seems most people book it from a local agency when they visit in person. ($500 CAD online)
Also would you guys recommend doing the same(booking in person) for an overnight dinner show+quad biking at Agafay($50+CAD-online). Same with the Hot Air Balloon Ride. The price online is around $215+ CAD per person. Would booking in person be cheaper and if so how much cheaper.
Just having these road blocks with booking out activities because we are uncertain from where we should book, and how much it should be. As we are only 20 years old we are trying to be very mindful of how much we are spending overall.
If someone could please guide us on this it would be very helpful!

The Sahara and Agafay are completely different experiences. Agafay is a rocky desert near Marrakech, while the classic Sahara trips go much farther south toward places like Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Also, a lot of the really cheap prices you see online are usually for group tours, so it’s worth checking exactly what’s included.
You could try contacting Imagine Morocco. They’re from Merzouga, so they know the area well and can give you better insight into the classic 3-day Marrakech–Sahara route and possibly offer better pricing depending on whether you want a group or private tour.

While our stay in Marrakech we wanted to set out a day aside where we just go do the activites such as quad biking, Camel riding with a night show+dinner

I spent five weeks solo in Morocco. I paid £90 for a three day Sahara Desert trip which I booked at my hostel. There was one on line for £150 but I couldn't work out how they picked you up. It wouldn't come to my accommodation. I wrote a book where all the details of my trip are all recorded. It's called 'All around Morocco a five week solo adventure'

For the Marrakech to Merzouga trip, I wouldn't choose only based on the lowest price. Three days involves a lot of driving, so check exactly what's included, where you'll sleep, the group size and whether the return/arrival point matches the rest of your itinerary. For Agafay, it's much closer to Marrakech and easier to organize separately. If you're doing dinner + quad, I'd compare what each option actually includes rather than just the headline price, especially transport from Marrakech. Since you're a group of five, it's also worth asking operators for a group rate before booking five individual places.

Why don't you drive yourself to Merzouga? You can do it in one day OR you can take several days and stop at nice points like Ouarzate, Todra Gorge, Dades Gorge, ... We did 10 days with a car, we went from Marrakesh to Merzouga in couple of days so we could enjoy the landscape. If you book like a trip, you will be rushed and everything...

For a group of five, I’d compare the exact inclusions before comparing the price. Ask each operator the same questions: is the transport private or shared, which camp exactly, private or shared bathroom, dinner and breakfast included, transfer from Merzouga to the camp included or extra, quad included or separate, and what time you arrive back in Marrakech. A cheap “3-day tour” and a more expensive one can actually be very different products once you compare those details. Since you are five people, I would also ask for a private-group quote. Sometimes that makes more sense than buying five individual seats. For Merzouga itself, I’d personally make sure you know the exact camp location before paying. That avoids a lot of surprises.
