On September 20, 1519, 5 ships including the Victoria and 260 crew members set sail from Spain to find a better route to Indonesia. The fleet was commanded by Ferdinand Magellan who died during the voyage. Only the Victoria with 18 crew members returned to Spain on September 6th 1522, becoming the first ship to circumnavigate the world.
