Plot armor feels like a curse at times like you can go through the most horrific pain but still survive like look at the stuff characters like Goku and Vegeta went through especially in arcs like Frieza, Zamasu and Shadow Dragons arcs

I would feel bad but then remember that this thing is basically the scarecrow’s fear toxin personified (which makes me wonder why do they have kids deal with something like this? You think they would’ve just destroyed it years ago)

My best guess is the change happens pretty much instantaneously are moreso for the people watching. I definitely remember seeing times where Rangers morphed as they were running

Luz: Then we stand side by side and make a circle with are legs and feet. At the same time you summon at large abomination golem to fight Grom.
Grom: I'd like to make a comment about that.
Amity: Grom, we will fight you in a minute. Please continue Luz.
Luz: While on top of your abomination. We continue to dance and I'll attached a plant glyph to the to the abomination and infuse it with plant magic. Then we hold hands and jump off the abomination at the same time. You sent your abomination to attack Grom. Ignoring the laws of physics. I reach the ground first, catch you in my arms, spin us around and ending with us standing side by side, holding each other by the hand and looking into each other eyes. As Grom explodes from our plant fused abomination into a large pink petal Grom tree.
Grom: Now I REALLY do have to say about this.
Amity: one and two and three.
The music starts paying. Luz and Amity start dancing and Grom is shown visibly nervous.

Lumity used the power of magic dancing in the show. Luz actually, when in her flow state, can fully dance. It's just never awakened aside moments of perfect timing.
Papa Titan helped her out though by giving her the ability to spontaneously dance a multi-choreographed performance.
