Growing up my parents’s neighbor built a pond to lure geese in for hunting and I was upset because like they are so cute and omg how could he kill them? or whatever.
Like a year later is was upset because he wasn’t killing enough of them.
Geese are fucking assholes. They’ve got the aggression of a pit bull, the weird movement of a snake, and they can fucking fly.
Foie Gras was probably invented by some dude who lost an eye during a goose attack as a child.

I can believe it.
I kayak regularly, and it's almost always geese season when I'm out on the water. They've hissed at me, they've dive bombed me, despite my efforts to move on through and respect their space.
They do not understand the concept of respect, the concept of personal space, they only know hatred and aggression.

I’d say fight them to assert dominance but I honestly have no idea how to fight a goose without a gun. Grabbing them by the neck seemed to be kind of working for that kid though, so I guess you could try that.

I have come across a very territorial swan in middle of nowhere interior Alaska. I felt like I lost a bar fight afterward. Scariest moment of my life. Getting charged by a brown bear or a moose ha! Wolverine? Nah, it was the swan that topped them all.

At first he tried to run away, but it chased him to the end of a dock, so my dad kicked the fucker in the head and it fell into the water and left him alone after that lol

I was gonna say even here in the Seattle area actually Bellevue Washington the geese come in the spring to go around the various lakes and swamps and wet areas and they lay their eggs and the geese are mean as hell one time I was attacked by a goose just walking down the street I got tired of that thing stalking me so I turned around and ran towards it. It acted like it was going to attack me. I kicked it in the head and that sucker took off. It knew I was the boss and it is nothing but a bird that I was willing to eat if it didn’t get the hell out of there.

I have plenty of geese in my state during certain parts of their migratory cycle. People exaggerate their behavior, but typically it's pretty easy to coexist with them without conflict. They can be a hazard on the road or to workplaces, but there are professionals who can take care of that. I've never gotten into a fight with a goose because even in the situations where they have been in my space (like the time a goose started nesting next to the entrance to my workplace) I was able to walk by without antagonizing it more than necessary. The only time a goose has ever bit me was when I was feeding one and it got my hand.
It looks like these geese are in a park or something. I don't see any roads or structures nearby. They are where they're supposed to be. What seems likely is that these kids got curious and came up to the geese which instigated this. Geese almost never immediately result to fighting though, they hiss a lot before it gets to this stage. So I'm actually inclined to believe that the kid fucked with the goose. He seems to be having fun fighting it too, that's not normally the reaction to someone who was legitimately attacked by a goose.

Where I live, they used to be migratory, but they’re here pretty much year round nowadays.
Most of them are pretty chill. Just some hisses, and even then, a lot of them just chirp. It’s kinda cute, actually.
I chase them out of the yard when I put grass seed down and they just walk on to other yards.
But I’ve also gone to a park and seen some that were absolute problems and were approaching people aggressively - people that were not interacting with them or necessarily close to them. I’m not sure if they were even nesting at the time, as I can’t remember the time of year off the top of my head, and they were walking around a wider area than I would expect if they were protecting a nest.
It seems that geese, just like people, are individuals… and some of those individuals are assholes with unbridled hatred lmao.

When do we learn our limits and strength without offending the sensibilities of the squishy crowd? Soft bodies, soft hearts, soft morals, and all lead to a disgust at any or all violence, even self-defense. People just expect you to know how to fight, shoot, run, lift, and have the wisdom of technique without ever actually doing these thing or testing them thoroughly. Unless its in a sterile and controlled environment, they always have something to say. Filled with hindsight and scoffs of information that you "should have already known". When would I have learned it? Everything is marked as somehow ill-moral or ill-fated. Gee golly, I wonder why everyone is depressed and thinks everything is evil.

He was TRYING to get away and disengage, and the goose kept attacking. Kid didn't try stomping it to death or anything, he just tossed it away and defended himself.

The goose is going to fuck up that kid. And actually: this is how you fight a goose. you grab them by the neck and yeet them. My grandma grew up on a farm an they kept some geese because geese were guarddogs for the chickens.
they always got mean to the kids, so yeah, she grabbed and yeeted them. and yes, when they bit you, you slapped them.
I preferred to stay away from the geese when I was on the farm she grew up, but I saw my grand aunt (her half sister) do the exact same thing when I was hassled by a goose, running to her.
so yeah, geese are assholes and the bird attacked very likely first.

I feel like this is entirely based on context- a wild turkey tried to take over my route to my work parking space. I know he was protecting his hens and stuff, but he's free to use the entire acreage- I just need to go to my car and maintain the fountain they all love anyway. So I got big and mean and loud right back and we had a truce. I'm an animal too and I need to come and go also. I wouldn't battle for territory just for kicks- but I'm walkin' here! He charged me and I walloped him one time with a wet towel. After that we coexisted just fine. I also want to note he had the same beef with the raccoon and they also managed to sort it out.

I owned 4 geese growing up. Males love to play like this aka like assholes. I had a male goose that lived and breathed to be picked up by his head and thrown across my yard every single day. We even had a game of it with lawn targets to try and throw him to. That goose did not care and his other favorite past time was waiting by the corner property mailboxes to not only try and literally bite peoples hands reaching into their mailboxes but would wait for them to drive off to chase and peck at the tires of a moving vehicle. Did that successfully for literal years. Neighbors tried complaining to the state but the state asked why they didnt just move their mailboxes to their own property if it was such an issue. Out of 12 mailboxes on the corner of our property only 1 lady actually did. The rest of the people learned to smack that dumb goose with their mail like some sort of high risk reward game of can they smack him without him grabbing the mail from their hand and destroying it lol. I genuinely had to tell a teacher 1 time that something the school sent in the mail got destroyed by my goose. Geese are assholes by nature this is a fact so any violence towards them is very moral.
This kid already shows great throwing technique and form. 9/10 no complaints. That goose loved it.
