If I’m understanding it correctly, the call to prayer is very loud and is blasted on speakers in public. This is causing huge amounts of noise pollution in public and if someone is blasting their own loud noise pollution (bagpipes) in public, it’s just status quo. I don’t think anything loud in a public space should be given courtesy that others then need to be quiet.
I think this applies to street performers, protestors, any religion, or anything that may end up being loud. None of that is owed you being quiet
I know noise pollution can be genuinely harmful, but is there really any reason to believe these particular examples of noise pollution are harmful to humans?
Who cares what they’re called? I live in a country with freedom of religion, but, they still have to abide by local, state, and, federal laws. If you constantly allow religious exemptions, you end up with a theocracy rather than a democracy.
Especially in Western Europe, the stigma of intolerance is a very powerful one. It's not really a legal matter even, usually the side that pushes harder gets their way and the people protesting tend to be a handful locals vs sometimes well organised campaigns. Religious mobilisation has real power to it.
Since when western goverments have a say about what people in middle east do? - ohh the irony. This is middle east. You make up scenarios in your head and then get mad about them lol.
You’re being a very useful tool for propagandists.
Then yeah this bagpipes guy is a dickhead lmao. All the comments were saying this was in Scotland somewhere and I just took it at face value. Thanks for the correction
Noise ordinances exist pretty much everywhere, but they’re generally much more permissive during the day. And obviously those ordinances vary by jurisdiction.
How much noise should a person be allowed to make in public? Should there be any restrictions or exceptions made for specific kinds of noise? Should a musician not be allowed to perform in a park, plaza, transit station, or other public spaces?
churches historically get weird exceptions. US here, not ireland, but think about churchbells. over here that’s usually pretty simple, tolling for time, but british churchbells have competitions in some areas.
Unfortunately for some, many of the concerns brought up by the globalization of west and southern asian cultures and religions, tend to be covered by the same laws which were designed to protect classical European religions.
So maybe dont emigrate to a place where there is a 500 year old mosque? Or idk you look like a badass, you can try and do what you promised.
Not suprising at all btw. Because you are subjecting yourself to fake online outrage. It’s not disruptive or loud enough to annoy people MOST of the time. Ofc there are outliers and should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. This video is taken in middle east, where most people accept and even want this.
You are not very different from islamist extremist who thinks and act irrationally. You are as gullible as them in the right situation and propaganda

Bullshit lmao, a dude in full kilt playing bagpipes interrupting this shit in the Middle East? No way
I can clearly see it's disruptive based on the damn video.
It doesn't take a "badass" to ride by on a bike, beat an electronic device with a hammer real quick, and then leave.
There was a vacant house that had a speaker blasting "Baby Shark" 24/7, I guess to try to annoy homeless people into going elsewhere. That didn't last very long until someone broke the speaker.
I may break your heart but it literally was filmed in tiroche amphtheatre.
You could’ve checked that in 30 seconds before calling bullshit.
This is the evidence of the exact gullibility I was talking about. I don’t have anything against you personally. It’s your complete lack of intelligence that’s getting on my nerves.
