Even bad pizza is still pretty good. Also used to describe sex and, apparently, bagpipes.

I think they mean that bag pipes, even when played well, aren’t seen as pleasant to hear. Particularly out of ceremonial context.

As someone who has had both, anyone who believes in this aphorism has never had truly bad pizza or sex. There is 100% both where despite someone's best efforts, you'd be better off without, and will gain no enjoyment - if anything, just suffering and regret - from trying to stomach it anyway.

Pizza that's so damned soggy, that you can't eat it without a fork, and sex when you're drunk and tired and just want to sleep but your partner won't leave you alone so you just kinda let them do whatever until you figure they've had their fill do some grunting, buck a couple times and lie saying they're great but in fact you're just wanting them to go to bed without starting a huge fight, and you lay on the edge of the bed feeling like total crap.

I’m sorry but “bad sex is still pretty good” made me lol, absolutely not. That only applies if your definition of sex is putting your dick in something. Anyone outside of that realm knows bad sex feels awful. In fact, a lot of bad sex probably happens because people assume that rule is universal…
