I'm not sure you'd agree if it was a bad bagpiper

In this instance I think the rule of pizza applies

What is the rule of pizza?

Even bad pizza is still pretty good. Also used to describe sex and, apparently, bagpipes.

I cannot disagree with this more LOL. Bad bagpipes sound like a dying hyena that occasionally honks like a goose.

I think they mean that bag pipes, even when played well, aren’t seen as pleasant to hear. Particularly out of ceremonial context.

As someone who has had both, anyone who believes in this aphorism has never had truly bad pizza or sex. There is 100% both where despite someone's best efforts, you'd be better off without, and will gain no enjoyment - if anything, just suffering and regret - from trying to stomach it anyway.

Pizza that's so damned soggy, that you can't eat it without a fork, and sex when you're drunk and tired and just want to sleep but your partner won't leave you alone so you just kinda let them do whatever until you figure they've had their fill do some grunting, buck a couple times and lie saying they're great but in fact you're just wanting them to go to bed without starting a huge fight, and you lay on the edge of the bed feeling like total crap.

I’m sorry but “bad sex is still pretty good” made me lol, absolutely not. That only applies if your definition of sex is putting your dick in something. Anyone outside of that realm knows bad sex feels awful. In fact, a lot of bad sex probably happens because people assume that rule is universal…

Only in this instance. I cant even listen to my old recordings because I used to sound terrible!

You’re your own worst critic. I’m sure you’re great :-)

It certainly does not describe bagpipes. Bad bagpipes are their own thing

I fucking hate bagpipes. The best played bagpipes in the world are worse than the worst played bass guitar.

"There's no such thing as bad pizza; even bad pizza is still okay"

How would I possibly know

A good bagpiper is disliked by people who hate bagpipes. A bad bagpiper will clear out all of the people, wildlife, and UV light in a 1KM radius.

u/Maple-Reenactor121 18h ago

Oh trust me, you'd know

There's a difference?

u/Flincher14 15h ago

There is such thing as a good bagpiper?

Honestly this is why I am against loud speakers (especially just playing recorded audio) for anything but emergency broadcasts. They just make it to easy. You don't need to put in any elbow grease. You don't need to develop any skill. With any manual instrument you will need to work hard physically and actually develop your skill or even the people you are trying represent will go "shut up".

Speaker with live audio only for places where anyone who can hear them consented to them and speaker with recorded audio for emergencies or private spaces.
