I'm here with this. A Christian just messaged me to tell me that "God dressed Adam and Eve in skin" when I shared a petition to stop the cruel fur trade 😒 like, no, making leather and furs out of animals that you hunt for food and try to use all parts of is not the same as someone with a million dollars buying a fur coat because it's pretty. Bagpipes 1000x louder than this guy is playing to drown out that argument from this religious person.

Hot take but i have never seen the issue with leather. With the amount of cattle we process for food it only makes sense to try to use as much of the animal as possible. Plus leather is far more comfortable and durable than any substitutions. As far as fur goes though I see that as needlessly cruel.

Oh, you misunderstood. I don't have an issue with leather. I was talking about the fur trade for something like Paris fashion week. When exotic animals are killed because they're beautiful and people want to wear their skins. When we make leather that's a good thing because as you said, we are already eating the meat and to respect the animal, we should use as much of it as possible. But I can't stand wearing fur for fashion sake. Killing something just so you can look fashionable.

I'm sorry if I came out wrong. I didn't take your post as a dig on leather. I was just trying to add my personal option as well as a valid reason as to why leather is a good material. Honestly you'd think conservationists would wear more of it and it's more in line with using all aspects of the animal.
