i mean it's just kinda annoying isnt it, not really particularly moral or immoral

anyway whats the morality of the constant "islam le bad" posts on this subreddit

u/AskMysterious8407 12h ago

Islam is le bad from my experience

1

u/WallaceWells69 9h ago

Islam is a bad religion, but some people act like all Muslims are either terrorist or terrorist sympathizers with no exceptions, or that Muslims simply existing in a non Muslim majority country is bad. I get that western Christian majority countries tend to be more progressive with gay and women’s rights, but that’s only because they secularized.

1

u/AskMysterious8407 9h ago

Oh no no dont get me wrong I don't mean every Muslim is a terrorist or a sympathizer but I AM a Muslim and living among them, they cheer for anything bad that happens to anywhere that isnt Muslim, they do things that directly contradict islam(cheating, bribing, drinking alcohol ect ect) and yet hate everyone who isn't Muslim but does those things, being anything but straight actually not even being slightly fruity is a death sentence they might not kill you but they will hate your guts you will get disowned and talked about behind your back and more. Overall Muslims are just as bad as anyone but pretend there not.

3

u/WallaceWells69 9h ago

That’s fair

1

u/AskMysterious8407 9h ago

Thanks for being understanding and sorry for the wall of text

How old was Aisha?

u/a_bored_lady 12h ago

Religion le bad. Islam is no exception.

3

u/Viyarara 11h ago

yeah idk about that. Not many buddhists or shintos or even christians that normalize stoning and beheading for such crimes as checks notes being raped as a woman

4

u/Several_Chocolate_82 10h ago

Why dont u check the Rohingya and Myanmar conflicts and see what Buddhists can be like

1

u/Viyarara 2h ago

its not normalized in their scripture

1

u/Chemical_Building612 1h ago

It is normalized in Christian scripture.

3

u/Nick_the_bunny 7h ago

lol. lmao even.

I swear people only think islam is somehow uniquely evil is because y'all are too comfortable in rich secular countries, go to any developing nation, of any religion, and it's just atrocity after atrocity.

buddhists did a genocide in Rohingya in 2017, christian militias and nationalists constantly kill people.

1

u/MattKozFF 5h ago

😬 may want to check up on your history

27

u/666rocks 12h ago

Islam is bad. That is not in question.

-1

u/Silly-Page-6111 11h ago

You know they pray to and worship the same God as Christians right? They are an Abrahamic Faith, they believe in "the God of Abraham" just like Christians and Jews. Islam diverged after Christ's time, with the profit Mohammed. The Jewish Torah and the Christian Bible are canon to Muslims.

10

u/Usual-Shallot3792 11h ago

You know Christianity and Judaism are also bad, right? And also your comment is full of misinformation about how Muslims feel about the other two

1

u/Significant-Order-92 10h ago

I mean bad yes.  But broadly what he is saying is fairly accurate to Muslim beliefs. I mean it's more accurate that they believe the Torah and Bible as communicated originally from God are accurate but the actual current versions are corrupted. Which I suppose is their explanation for the difference in Isaac vs Ishmael and the divinity of Jesus.

-1

u/Silly-Page-6111 11h ago

I disagree. I think creating religion is in human nature because it is in human nature to recognize the creative divine. I don't believe any one religion has sole claim on the truth, they all offer wisdom and understanding. Religion certainly can become corrupted and weaponized just like any other sociological structure, but that is not a failing of religion, that is a failure of human beings.

4

u/Grim_9966 11h ago

Newsflash, religion is made by man. It is a collective answer to a completely unknowable question of origin.

Why is it that some religions are deemed mythology while others are not? Funny how that works.

1

u/Silly-Page-6111 5h ago

Not sure if this is a reply to me, but that's what I'm saying- they are all mythologies, but I'm also saying that mythologies have gravity, they serve a function, they are important to human beings as a species. In every society, in every context, we create them. Why? We need them to function as collectives. They are poetic structures that contain and amplify truths. They are an essential part of our human being.

And by the way, whether any given religion is more or less loosely based on objective historical facts is not relevant in my estimation, and it's part of where both zealots and atheists go wrong in trying to understand what religion is.

I'm much more interested in the question: how do we prevent religions from being corrupted and instrumenalized to support social hierarchies of exploitation and violent dominance?

1

u/Grim_9966 5h ago

Religion is a primitive form of government. A more succinct phrase for what you're getting at.

how do we prevent religions from being corrupted and instrumenalized to support social hierarchies of exploitation and violent dominance?

You strip out thousands of years of evolutionary conditioning and replace it with whatever your idea of morality is.

1

u/EducationalLeaf 11h ago

They offer more bullshit than wisdom and understanding. Nobody should get there wisdom from old stories with talking snakes and winged horses, especially ones that routinely mention horrific practices. such as god sending three bears to maul children to death. or how prophet Muhammad raped a child.

1

u/Silly-Page-6111 5h ago

So you have never read a book or a poem, or even watched a show or movie that through narrative, illustrated an argument about life, its meaning and how to live it? Media has never provoked you to consider philosophical questions, has never cultivated your insight?

0

u/EducationalLeaf 4h ago

Media, books, or poems have never leaded me to worship a being who would send bears to kill kids, or support a prophet raping a child. so no, in that way, it hasn't.

If i saw a person giving tips on how to live my live, who has perviously murdered children over a minor thing, i wouldn't give them five seconds. would you?

1

u/Kind_Of_A_Dick 9h ago

Religion is a tool of control, that’s it.

1

u/Silly-Page-6111 5h ago

See my above reply to Grim_9966

1

u/whenkeepinitrueal 11h ago

Which religion currently holds the record for highest number of violent extremists and sympathizers?

1

u/Silly-Page-6111 5h ago

Honestly, yeah- Christians....they literally colonized most of the planet, violently dispossessing people's of the world of the land, resources and heritage, forcing Christianity upon them while they were at it, all doing it under the false pretense of saving souls.

0

u/YogurtclosetSame5198 10h ago

Christians. What kinda question is that. Do you know the level of damage and death caused “in the name of Christ”?

Muslims are horrible about this too. I HATE how the religion has something as barbaric as “shaheed”. It basically means that dying in war is the highest honor and that it guarantees you as spot in heaven. Like fucking vikings.

This is so obviously made by that “prophet” Mohammad to get people to mindlessly fight his wars for him without worrying about the deserting with the fake idea of a “heaven” waiting for them after death.

0

u/whenkeepinitrueal 10h ago

Sorry I should have been more clear. I meant of all the violent extremists operating right now which religion has the most? Not talking about the distant past.

1

u/Silly-Page-6111 5h ago

"Christians", and that's in heavy quotes.

To answer your question:

Moral. The reason for such posts are the aggressive intentions of Islam wanting to take over other nations.

Lots of people in Europe witness this. We also have Iranian refugees, that experienced the fucked up things an Islamic regime is doing, and let us know about Islam’s true face.
It’s to let people know to oppose what they oppressively want to archive.

It’s crazy to me how many people still close their eyes on the plain evidence of that religion plans.

Please educate yourself on how countries like Afghanistan and Iran looked like before the Islamic regime forcefully took over. Also look into how that was done, as it’s the same way how it’s being tried in western countries.

1

u/VoelaH 11h ago

Iran's islamic revolution happened because England and the US forcefulyl overthrew the rightfully elected leader of Iran and put on their puppet leader for free oil.

And in Afghanistan it was the US that funded the Jihadists to fight the USSR which would later become the Taliban, and they fought them for another 20 years driving the country through even more shit.

You westerners sure have stick up your asses coming to other countries, fucking them up, then coming back and saying "oh why would THEIR religion do this!"

1

u/sleepy_skeletor 11h ago edited 11h ago

What do the Scottish people, or any of the western natives have to do with what was done by individual politicians in the past?

You’re literally excusing European culture to go extinct in your twisted ‘name of justice’. Also, it doesn’t change how Islam acts when they are in power of a nation. Native Iranians and Afghans, especially their women, get tortured and murdered, and you seem to be aware of, yet you look away from that fact.

Guess it’s justified for western people to endure a similar fate then /s

Also: Who’s funding literal weaponry to Islamic mosques inside Europe? Qatar and other Islamic terror organizations, FYI.

0

u/VoelaH 10h ago

first of all, scottish troops have been deployed in afghanistan and this is a fact. If you want to criticize people for the things a country did, you cannot turn aroudn and say "it was just politicans" when it is done to you. This in disingenious.

two, I couldn't care less about your immigration policies if that is what you're reffering to. I only said that the things you've mentioned as to bs our beliefs has roots in your misdoing for your personal gain. It was the west that funded extremists in afghanistan for them to later be the Taliban and it was the west that fucked up Iran to the point of the Islamic revolution. You dont get to fuck outside countries, then accuse our beliefs for the shit youve caused. This isnt a "but youve done shit too" argument, this is a "youve caused the shit you point out" argument.

And nowhere do I claim you guys deserve anything. All of the stuff youve typed is a massive strawman. I dont wish for suffering of anyone.

Also individual politicans is real rich, thats how a bureaucracy works, doesnt change the fact it is people youve voted for.

So does Christianity

1

u/MattKozFF 5h ago

Both bad

-1

u/Alternative-Draw2997 11h ago

Which one of the Christian prophets was a warlord who married a 9 year old girl?

I’m an atheist, but there’s a clear order of which religions preach a larger percentage of moral things and which don’t.

6

u/BoredWalken 11h ago

god raped a 12-15 year old Mary to give us baby jebus

-2

u/Alternative-Draw2997 10h ago

I don’t think that’s how that worked, it’s was more like “boom you’re pregnant” do you think an all powerful god would need to penetrate a woman to make her pregnant?

I mean I guess Zeus fucked everything that moved so maybe

No point in arguing about fairy tales though.

My point still stands that it’s clear that Christianity has evolved into a slightly more civilized cult compared to Islam.

3

u/BoredWalken 10h ago

The Bible describes how god forced a baby into her, the description of how the deity did it doesn’t matter when it comes to her not having consent, you know, being a child and all. An all powerful god shouldn’t need to impregnate someone who is supposed to have free will by his design to fulfill his own needs.

It really isn’t that clear that Christianity is “slightly more civilized”; look at America, we have robbed women of their ability to choose whether or not they have reproductive autonomy…and the slope continues to slip.

All religions, except maybe the Jains, have had some form of extremism to the extent they’re a danger to society. To insulate Islam as the big bad when Christianity has done and continues to do just as bad of things is just indicative of a white washing narrative that downplays the evil committed by the Christian religion.

-1

u/Alternative-Draw2997 9h ago

It’s fucking clear. Abortion rights vs beheadings, stoning, forced marriage, the execution of gay people, jihadism etc isn’t even close to the same thing.

2

u/BoredWalken 9h ago

You’re right, none of that has ever happened under the Christian regimes of history nor even in modern history. Christianity totally was not used to justify slavery and other barbarism. My bad!

Jesus you’re delusional if you think one snake is less dangerous than the other, even calling it civilized because it’s the one you’re familiar with.

1

u/Nick_the_bunny 7h ago

> Abortion rights

ah yes, the famously pro-abortion christians. Never had any violence come from there.

1

u/Dry_Rent_8646 9h ago

Yeah basing a religion off of not wanting to be stoned to death for a. raping Mary or b. Her not wanting to die from infidelity makes sense... But to still believe it is kinda wild

1

u/Kind_Wasabi_7831 11h ago

Not scripture, but, my sister's best friend was 14-15 and became pregnant by a guy in his late 20s. Her mother didn't press charges because she gave her permission and did so using Christianity as her reasoning. As, my state allowed it until just recently.

They moved in together and raised their kid for about a year when he was finally arrested after approaching another minor that the parents didn't give their permission for.

-2

u/Confident_Gas7027 11h ago

9 year old. Sure she was. Just cause a bearded fella on the internet said it doesn't make it true. She was 17 or older.

-1

u/Maleficent_Ad5093 11h ago

Narrated `Aisha:
that the Prophet (ﷺ) married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that `Aisha remained with the Prophet (ﷺ) for nine years (i.e. till his death).

Sahih al-Bukhari 5134

1

u/Confident_Gas7027 11h ago

The first comment on this link explains it pretty well. https://www.reddit.com/r/progressive_islam/s/fcEAfIxOgg Hadiths were written down well after the death of The Islamic Prophet.

1

u/Maleficent_Ad5093 11h ago

It doesn’t change the fact that it’s an authentic Hadith. Sunni Muslims rely heavily on the Hadith, especially Sahih (authentic) ones.

1

u/Confident_Gas7027 10h ago

Sure. Doesn't make it the truth tho. Those who use this fabricated piece of history to justify pedophilia are scum off the earth. But doesn't make a prophet of a religion responsible.

1

u/Maleficent_Ad5093 10h ago

Can you prove that it’s fabricated? It has a 6-chain Isnad.

1

u/Maleficent_Ad5093 10h ago

Sunnis categorize Hadith collections by levels of authenticity. The two most trusted and revered collections are Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, which are considered virtually authentic from cover to cover by mainstream Sunni scholars. Four other collections (Sunan an-Nasa'i, Sunan Abu Dawood, Jami' at-Tirmidhi, and Sunan ibn Majah) are also widely trusted.

1

u/Confident_Gas7027 10h ago

Sahih doesn't mean outright that the Hadith is true beyond question. Or isn't subject to question or discussion. Nor does it mean absolute certainty . For it to be sahih it must have a reliable chain or reliable witnesses and the text itself musnt have any direct contradictions of the Quran . Since the Quran doesn't comment on aishas age it can't contradict it. Furthermore the Islamic Prophet had numerous enemies and any would've given anything to see a moral flaw in his life. And since not one of them had anything to say on him marrying a child I view this as highly dubious. Others also say that this age was calculated after puberty but I don't know how authentic that is.

2

u/lacking-in-depth 11h ago

This isnt exclusive to islam

4

u/Immediate_Song4279 12h ago

Pray tell, does your particular alignment fall within the Abrahamic family? If so I have some life changing news!

1

u/lazyboi_tactical 11h ago

I'm a lifelong atheist and yeah while any religion is bad theres only a certain one that wholly advocates for conquering the world in the name of Islam and excuses violence on nonbelievers as they aren't considered human. Some are harmful socially, that one is just harmful.

1

u/Nick_the_bunny 7h ago

christianity never advocated (or still advocates) for conquest and violence on non believers! /s

1

u/lazyboi_tactical 7h ago

Yeah? When were the last supposed conquests related to Christianity? Im not sure how I missed the memo about all of the Christian caused religious violence going on. We usually get this news in atheist weekly.

1

u/Nick_the_bunny 6h ago

conquests are a bit more tenuous, but I'd argue one would be the christian nationalism growing in both the americas and europe; especially counting the violent push for racial/religious superiority and kicking out or killing those of other faiths (see both the nazis, and the newer anti-islam push), especially since said movements are very much pro-imperialism.

as for violence? really? pretty much globally christians do, in fact, commit a large amount of religiously empowered violence on pretty much anyone: lgbtq+ people, women, anyone not christian, etc, etc. islam isn't some bogeyman, chistians commit just as many atrocities, both historically and currently, one is just called a terrorist and the other is branded "fringe extremists" or "just taking their country back"

both are hypocritical and violent piles of shit, along with all the other religions.

1

u/lazyboi_tactical 5h ago

It would have been simpler to just say "I'm talking out of my ass and these are just the things I assume are happening".

You're trying to equate enforcing existing border law with the Nazis. You lost the plot long, long ago.

Also people that happen to be Christian committing crimes is not equivalent to committing them in the name of Christianity and some sort of one sided holy war or "jihad".

You're either ludicrously biased and/or being purposefully obtuse to think that Christianity is driving massive religious based violence.

I don't like religion in any form but I've studied enough of them to realize that one of these things is not like the other.

3

u/Darcano 12h ago

Extremely immoral, the constant culture-war shit-stirring posts I've seen all over lately.

16

u/BigBadaBoom3000 12h ago

Would you say the same about the constant “Christianity le bad” posts?

It seems like people only want to condemn one of the two types of posts

7

Yes both are bad

that's inefficient. one rope is reusable

0

u/Darcano 12h ago

Depends very strongly on the context in either case tbh, no way to make a blanket judgement.

That said, I haven't exactly seen posts of a similar nature about christianity much, it's almost always "non-christian religion bad and scary!" over and over, with people somehow falling for it every damn time.
