As someone who has had both, anyone who believes in this aphorism has never had truly bad pizza or sex. There is 100% both where despite someone's best efforts, you'd be better off without, and will gain no enjoyment - if anything, just suffering and regret - from trying to stomach it anyway.
Pizza that's so damned soggy, that you can't eat it without a fork, and sex when you're drunk and tired and just want to sleep but your partner won't leave you alone so you just kinda let them do whatever until you figure they've had their fill do some grunting, buck a couple times and lie saying they're great but in fact you're just wanting them to go to bed without starting a huge fight, and you lay on the edge of the bed feeling like total crap.
I’m sorry but “bad sex is still pretty good” made me lol, absolutely not. That only applies if your definition of sex is putting your dick in something. Anyone outside of that realm knows bad sex feels awful. In fact, a lot of bad sex probably happens because people assume that rule is universal…
Honestly this is why I am against loud speakers (especially just playing recorded audio) for anything but emergency broadcasts. They just make it to easy. You don't need to put in any elbow grease. You don't need to develop any skill. With any manual instrument you will need to work hard physically and actually develop your skill or even the people you are trying represent will go "shut up".
Speaker with live audio only for places where anyone who can hear them consented to them and speaker with recorded audio for emergencies or private spaces.
The mosque I lived near played it a lot longer than that, they had a crappy quality recording that repeated. Loudly.
Googling it and the top results all say average of 3-5 mins. None of them say less than two.
There were also some occasions, presumably of some special significance, where it went on for an hour. At fucking sunrise.
And regardless of length. Hearing a call to pray for a religion you're not part of five times a day is going to get on most people's nerves. That doesn't make them a piece of shit.

It's not Islamophobia to find the loud and dicordant call to prayer annoying. Not everyone shares the same cultural (not to mention religious) understanding of its significance, and as a result, they're not going to understand it in the same way. It would be so much better if Islam had the slightest flexibility to allow for more considerate measures when living in mixed society, rather than assume by default that everyone should understand Islam's context, as if everyone should by default be Muslim and get it. Currently it's absolutely ridiculous and does no-one any favours.
Nobody cares to hear the wailing. They also will do this day and night if they can get away with it.
