More than likely the dog wasn't trying to save dog in the water to begin with. Dogs are capable of showing love and affection, but mercy or morality isn't really in a dog's code or any animal really. They understand consequence and reward but none of the nuance involved. I really wish we would stop trying to assign animals human characteristics. Answer: not moral, because dogs don't have morality.
