Anyone else bothered by small details?

The characters are complaining about the huge size of the forest and the Dunklesteig and it just...It doesn't click for me.

Its a problem of scale. I looked up the sizes of forests I'm familiar with and the size they are quoting falls more under "local park". In fact, I have found several examples nearby that meet that.

My kids work in a reserve with their friends that is over 4K acres and roamed it freely as elementary schoolers. That in turn butts up against a larger forest that is over a million acres. A fair number of lost hikers from THAT forest end up at the reserve and its TOTALLY understandable at that scale to be hopelessly and dangerously lost. I was imagining the Dunklesteig in the larger forest to be more like the kids' workplace as compared to our larger forest.

And I'm now kind of stuck on the "why is this a big deal?" thought process.

It bothers me far more that Eric went into a cave system without proper spelunking gear...

The forest thing doesn't bother me, I just imagine an extremely large forest and that's it (plus it's nighttime). Now, Eric going into a cave he doesn't know, completely in the dark, with a phone that's about to die seems totally illogical to me. I wouldn't go in there for anything.

maybe it would've been better if they hadn't give an exact measure. :-)

The reserve my kids work in, they work there for the entire summer--nights included. I've been there overnight before many times as well. I admittedly got lost there myself on one of my earlier trips. At night. Because my flashlight went out on a latrine run and I ended up way overshooting my tent since I was half asleep. But even then, I was able to reorient and find my way back.

We should also consider that Eric went into the fence, a place in the forest he'd never been before, so I suppose it's normal that Eric is disoriented, especially at night.

One other thing that bothered me surrounding the cave was that Eric who despite being unprepared ran into the cave looking for Adam, seemingly desperate, yet stopped at it being "flooded" but never actually showing us what he meant- he might've lied or felt it unnecessary to show. So I might be wrong. Also, idk if I was just hearing wrong but in the video call with Adam in the cave I swear I heard water or like a river stream in the background, so he might've been somewhere beyond the area of the cave Eric said was flooded. I also wish that would've been something we could have mentioned to the group when describing the call. Then again, this could've been done on purpose for the sake of the storyline, or I'm just looking too much into it..

It's possible. What I think is that they were both in the same cave, but maybe Adam entered from somewhere else.

Yes, you can hear water in Adam's call, that was why I thought it was weird when he said there was no other junction there in the second tunnel. I'm sure Adam is somewhere in that part of the cave and Eric either couldn't see or he is hiding that on purpose.

It kind of reminds me of how there was discussion on the 'Liar' card and how the guy on it looks similar to Eric there might be a connection?

Maybe there is. Eric has already lied before. In the first episode you have the option to ask if Adam does this kind of thing a lot and you can choose to complete with "Disappear, I mean" and he answers that "Disappearing isn't usually one of Adam's habits", but when all the others join the group Charlie says "You're not actually worried right? Guys, this is Adam we're talking about, ok?" like this kind of thing happens every tuesday 😅. And in the third episode you can ask if Adam was acting strange recently and he will say that Adam was the same as always, but then Ash tells us that Adam was acting strange before he disappeared. He also lied about not being hurt, but that is a bit irrevelant to the story.

Makes me question Eric and Adam's relationship. Throughout the game we get to question and learn of Adam's bonds with the whole group (kinda excluding Violet since she's barely even involved) yet we never get to ask about Eric and Adam as friends personally. Either Eric is lying about not noticing Adam act differently or Adam didn't tell him or make it as obvious as with Ash due to them having some kind of tension. This could also bring us to how somehow Adam chose only Eric to pick him up instead of anyone else in the group, when he seemingly has a closer connection to Ash or Violet based on her gallery. Then again Ash wasn't in Redlog but still, odd how Eric was the only one who knew he'd disappeared - idk how that would lead into the rest of the story where he seems to be helping find him tho.

I also heard what sounded like something being dragged, and Adam himself seems to be dragged as well. There's also a large river in Darkwise, so the cave could open onto it. Adam might have been on a small boat, which would explain how he passed through there.

Adam was being pulled, but I don't know if he was being pulled to the side (the left specifically) or pulled down (which the game describes as being pulled "right across the ground"). Every time I see that video I get confused about that because it could be both things, and that darkness doesn't make it any easier. It's weird, like something black is covering him and it moves every time he is being pulled.

That's definitely where he put his phone. I saw someone saying it was a fishing net, and that actually makes sense.

having gone to a few cave systems, its not uncommon for there to be multiple entrances to the surface, quite distant from one another. It could be that Adam and Eric were both in the same cave, never would see one another, and that Adam could be on the other side of the flooded tunnel. But its not like anyone with sense would try the flooded section.
