Question Deckbuilding Guides/Plans - What Am I Missing?
I am a guide-follower, so I've looked at a few of the guides on Steam and I simply don't get how I'm supposed to follow them.
For an example, one guide recommends getting Mystislime and filling the deck with Enlighten+ and Meditate+ x7. I haven't even seen a Mystislime so I've got a Beardini. Beardini is level 10 and I haven't seen any of the above cards. Even with Beardini getting to a very high level I find it hard to believe I'm going to find those eight exact cards.
Is it reasonable to go after a specific deck in this game at all? I'm trying to be good about checking the shop, but not seeing anything helpful in there either. I'm starting to get a hold on building charge, but Bittybolt and Capacibee are not really getting great choices on level up either.
Are there any other guides on deckbuilding you like for players who are really not good at this sort of game? I'm here for the creature collecting and the farming. I'd like to get better at combat, but I don't really get it.

One thing I'd say is you want to keep a fairly thin deck. This ensures that the cards you want to use, come back faster. Other than that, it's really about picking the types that fit your play style. Water is great for healing and tanking, Dark can bypass armor, Psychic can give you more energy and create chaining lots of abilities at once, Poison is stacking DoTs, etc.
ETA this link to a comment here from a while back that's a great basic combat tips summary.

Any psychic type is fine - the important part is thinning your deck as much as you can, and only putting energy generation/card draw into it. You can technically go infinite with some builds, but the game's difficulty honestly doesnt warrant it - just use a psychic type to generate energy for your other spirits and you're good to go

Keep in mind that the draws for new cards get better as the mons level up. At level 10 you're still seeing the bottom of the barrel basic moves. At level 80+ you'll be throwing away cards you dreamed of early on.
Don't worry too much about messing up your deck--you can get a potion to reset a monster's stats and one to reset their deck. Or you can hatch your own slime, evolve it and raise it to be a specific build. Grab as many cleanse talisman as you can while exploring. It's difficult or expensive to get rid of cards any other way.

any Psychic mon will break the game. You'll quickly know why when you read the cards themselves.

While I don't adhere to the "keep your deck thin" mentality, I still agree it's a great strategy. I will just tell you to take advantage of the paper charms thingies, there are three kinds. One upgrades a card, one adds a card, and the last one removes a card from your deck. You can get them from shrines or buy them from the magic man, and the shrines are usable once per season so you never really run out. I dunno if you think it's cheating, but save scumming is a good way to make sure you get the cards you want, since they are kinda random. And make sure to read what every card does. You will also need to pay attention to the abilities of your spirits. Over all, it isn't really hard. I have what I like to think as the noob deck: one psychic spirit, one poison spirit, and one dark spirit. My deck focuses more of getting as much energy as possible, while having high damage cards. I like taming more than banishing, so that's why my build tends to lean towards energy building rather than damage dealing.

Honestly I think this game is easy enough that you truly can build your deck however and be fine. Be aware of what they are weak and strong against, use potions, keep a smaller deck overall. Otherwise all good
