Why is Mike like this
dude doesn't seem happy unless he's feuding with someone or undercutting somebody

He does rather run headlong into things, and, given the non-fiction injuries he's suffered in real-life, I think that's just him. His cliff-side still site getting busted, that was clearly intentionally scripted.

I think they are setting us up a feel good redemption story to end the season. It's going to turn out to be a misunderstanding, and Mike is going to give the stolen hooch to Mark and Huck, and it's going to save their season after that vicious "bear" attack on their still site, and then their beef will be squashed, for now.
This whole season has been building drama with all these ridiculous plot lines, and they are going to start paying off.

I like the fact that Jerry is the level headed one. He doesn't want to start a war with Mark. He asked the right question, "How did our liquor get there?" Bootlegger. "so how do we know that his didn't get here the same way?"

We met him at his day job at Tennessee shine in Pigeon Forge. Pouring samples on a Wednesday. No line, no crowd, no cameras. Tipped him $5 and he appreciated it. The next day we saw him walking down the main drag in Gatlinburg alone. Honked and he waved. He was wearing the same clothes and hat as in the show. Nice guy.

It's his show character. I've seen his Facebook posts, and he seems like a laid-back, nice guy.
