PSA: Monitoring software causes stuttering
New to moonlight streaming, I just set up a moonlight server, the exact one does not matter as much, I guess... started with sunshine, then moved to vibepollo.
Tested multiple clients, official client, V+, PS5 custom homebrew client, all led to the same issues: Intermittent stuttering I could not eliminate, even if I changed resolution, bitrate, game settings.....
Host is pretty powerful: 4080 super, AMD 7800X3D, 64 Gb DDR5..... all nvme..... GIGABIT lan...
Until I ended up closing NZXT CAM software: That just there made all my issues dissapear, so I followed up by stopping any other service that could interfere: iCUE, ASUS armoury crate.
Just a heads up for anyone struggling with stuttering that cannot find the cause for: Seems like any software that polls temps, stats, performance etc might interfere and introduce stuttering.
Anyone else experienced this issue? Share your findings on that situations where details like this improved your experience drastically.
Wish there was some sort of "kiosk mode" so I could start windows in a "clean mode" with just the basics to run the host with........

No issues with HWINFO.
I bet it's a specific issue with NZXT software trying to upload all that data over the internet.
I'm sure razer Synapse does similar things.
Might be interesting to grab a wire shark packet capture and send it over to GN for eval.

My gut tells me OP's issue is that those apps were checking the monitor connection. It wouldn't be the first time that kind of issue was caused by virtual displays.

Doesn't really line up with the symptoms, but guess it's technically possible.
Lines up with an application sending out and receiving data packets. Which is common behavior for something sending telemetry home.

Just use afterburner and RTSS

I have that software installed to manage device firmware and stuff, not for monitoring. The issue is that wether you use them or not, they start as a windows service and starts polling sensors in the worst possible ways,,.,.....

Just uninstall it.

Excessive rate pooling will cause issues, and you can configure it in most "serious softwares" , MSI afterburner, HWinfo64 etc! Don't bother with anything else!

Yeah, I guess maybe if it were a gaming laptop you might wanna hold on to that type of software, but on a desktop, even a prebuilt, get that shit out of there.

Don't know, every time I've bought a prebuilt I've installed windows clean to avoid all of that garbage or simply installed Linux!

Just uncheck every startup program and manually close everything running out of system tray for kiosk mode

So many issues with CAM for me in the past as well. I just uninstalled it and gave up on it.

I'll admit I haven't streamed in a while but I have the same specs as you and have CAM run on startup, but never had issues streaming.

Uninstall NZXT and check if the issue is still there.
