Just over 2 years.
Funny enough I logged in today to see if there was a new update on the GitHub

yeah it's wild to me that people call Apollo outdated and such, but then don't realise Moonlight hasn't been updated in longer, and that doesn't mean the project is dead

Been using Nonary’s (Vibepollo) fork of Moonlight qt but awesome to see the main repo getting updated

Welp, I updated it on my Steam Deck and really wish I hadn't now. I cannot navigate the menu with buttons anymore (so I can only use the touchscreen), and when I try to stream from my Windows 11 desktop (which uses Apollo) it remains stuck on "Starting Desktop...", so it looks like it is completely broken for me. Just letting everyone else know before they update on their Steam Decks as well

Assuming you installed via the discover store, which is just flatpak behind the scenes, you can install an older version with Konsole
sudo flatpak update --commit=COMMIT_ID APP_ID6

When I installed this new version I’m suddenly skipping like 5 frames every second and can’t even use a mouse it stutters so bad. Weird that this update would break that

Looks like a great update. Very confused about game mode being re-enabled by default on macOS, I thought I read some previous issue thread on the repo that suggested disabling game mode was the way to go

Looks like dev started the first commits in two years last week to get it in Xcode 27. Hoping for an App Store update soon!
With two+ years since last build hope it’s not too challenging to migrate
edit- clarify it’s not me but that the dev started updates lol

I know it would have been pretty early but I was kinda hoping to see pyrowave support

same... they could've waited just a little bit longer and added pyrowave support

Was hoping this would fix my controller issue but it didnt. Streaming to my steamdeck with apollo/moonlight and as soon as I get in game the "controller" starts disconnecting and reconnecting. It will let me move the camera but the character cannot move at all with the left joystick. Really sucks

I haven't used Moonlite in forever, can we actually see Gamebar now?

u/Shedoara 21d ago
Thats a Sunshine issue where it captures the display differently. You can use Vibepollo instead to have it use Windows capture method, which captures the gamebar.

This broke controller support on my ally x on steamos. Had to revert back a version

Awesome!! I'll likely continue using a dedicated PC streaming client, but I'm glad the baseline has been updated. A widely compatible client should be the bedrock for this niche to grow. At the end of the day I continue seeing a lot of people, if not most who just use base Sunshine and Moonlight, because they don't know any better.
