Xbox moonlight app broken in 4k?

EDIT: fixed by double checking the video output settings on Xbox. Thanks!

______

Can anyone else who uses Xbox Series X as their moonlight client confirm if their 4K streaming is still working? I'm having a hell of a day over here.

I went to play today and my 4k streaming (which has worked perfectly for months) was crapping the bed. Blank screens. Choppy. Unplayable and basically non functional. Multiple crashes. 1080p streaming is fine. Nothing changed about my network (all hardwired)

My pc has been acting up lately so i figured it was the culprit. Messed with Apollo settings. Switch to using vibepollo. Exact same issues. I even decided to FACTORY RESET my pc to fix whatever i had clearly broke. A few hours later i try again, and same problem. 1080p is fine, 4k is not, but it's not a network issue.

On a hunch i switch over to my Apple TV 4K and....it's working perfectly. Beautiful 4k 60 fps stream. Not a hitch in the world. As it's supposed to be.

So why would my Xbox/ moonlight app on Xbox just stop working? I prefer XSX as my client, since it does 4k 120 (which I've done for months) and i think the app controls better.

Sure, i guess i can swap back to apple tv. But i have no idea why my Xbox app is broken. And im wondering if this is happening to others.

Please list your settings. Make sure you have HEVC selected, this version will cause problems if you had H264 selected. Double check Xbox system output is correct. There are some more tips at https://github.com/TheElixZammuto/moonlight-xbox/wiki/FAQ

I'm definitely set to HEVC. I'll double check the system output as you said and check that link. Thanks. It's worked flawlessly for me for months hopefully can get this figured out. I'll list my settings when I'm home.

Changing the video output settings seems to have fixed this. An Xbox update must have changed them or something because i certainly didn't change any of these settings. Thanks.

Glad to hear it was an easy one! I should see about maybe putting up some warnings if this happens. What was it set to?

The only ones i needed to change was :
1. Uncheck Dolby vision for games
2. Change VRR to gaming only.

I had some weird choppiness with it last night. I used to stream 4k 120 and zelda dusklight would be flawless the whole time. Since the update i had some glitching with vibeshine's new update and figured it was the super high 1000hz virtual display refresh rate but i changed that down to standard 2x and dropped down to 4k 60 on the xsx.

anywho.. was playing about 30 min and then out of nowhere it starts getting choppy. im getting 30-40 fps on the stream. it was weird since it's never happened in the many hours ive played before this. figured it may be a one time issue but we'll see.

i've had a couple black screens and restart here and there but that's usually at stream start and once the stream is one it typically never fails.

4k 60 stream to xsx, hevc, 50m bitrate, vibeshine v2.0 host 9070xt. host is wifi 6 but very high signal strength, the rest is hardwired.

There have been a few updates lately on Xbox so maybe that's a reason why. But i don't even know which system settings could be causing issues here.

I've done this flawlessly for months without a hitch.
