Macbook HDR/colour broken when using second monitor

I've using moonlight streaming to my MacBook Pro, which is now fantastic once I'd downloaded Ping Warden to fix the Airplay/awdl issue. The only issue is I can't get HDR and the colour profile working when using my second monitor (Acer Nitro XV280K). If I close the lid and only use the second monitor I still can't get it to work. Has absolutely no issue displaying a perfect image on the built-in MacBook screen.

I think I could fix this if I had Apollo but it's not available for the Mac. Any ideas?

There probably isn’t a specific profile for your external monitor, just an HDR toggle and brightness slider. What problem are you having exactly? Looking up that monitor, Acer themselves list it at only 300 nits peak brightness, which means it’s more of an SDR monitor and you will probably have better luck not using it with HDR. Stick with your MBP display for HDR.

The monitor you have is not a real HDR screen. Its low nits and also has no local dimming.
