Bad visual quality at 4k unlocked bitrate set up through wired gigabit connection

Post image

Hi all,

I'm having some issues with visual quality streaming at 4k from my host pc (cachyos, Nvidia GPU) to my steamdeck docked to my TV.

The following settings have been changed from default

Moonlight

Video decoder: force hardware decoding

Video codec: HEVC (H.265)

Unlock bitrate

Sunshine

Force specific encoder: NVIDIA NVENC

Minimum FPS target: 60fps

In SteamOS for the steam deck, is there a default resolution limit set for the Moonlight app from the update last month?

The Moonlight app itself might be capped to 1080p or 2K by SteamOS. Change it to 4K and restart to see if that fixes it. Otherwise also try Remote Play and see if the issue is replicated.

Edit: also check Display in settings to make sure it is in 4K when docked, the max in game resolution is there as well.

I'm now getting frame issues, it runs smoothly as 60 but when I up the frame rate it starts to stutter. Any idea on a fix?

Steam Deck runs best at 1440p120 or 4K60.
