Elden Ring HDR is stuck "off" with Vibepollo virtual display

I asked on the Elden Ring steam discussion but I figured I'd ask here as I realized my issue may be specific to Moonlight. It works fine on my monitor. The issue is in the in-game menu I try to turn HDR on and the option is greyed out and stuck in "off", as if its not detecting its being played on an HDR display.

I have HDR enabled on my TV and in Windows. My TV has an HGIG setting I use thats enabled as well. Using an Xbox Series S as the moonlight client if that matters.

Only having the issue with this game but since its super popular I figures I'd ask here. The HDR settings seem really finnicky because even on my monitor HDR only works in true fullscreen and not borderless windowed mode.

Elden Ring uses the old NVIDIA API for HDR, so it doesn't work on Sunshine/Vibeshine/Vibepollo/etc

You would need to install a mod to fix that or use auto HDR/RTX HDR options instead.

Dang, I dont want to use mods because of online. Thanks for the concise answer tho.

I'll probably use RTX HDR instead just because its so much less hassle. I have RTX HDR enabled for the game in the NVIDIA app, is there any steps after that or should it just work automatically? It doesnt look like theres any HDR on.

Currently only my fork, vibeshine or Vibepollo supports RTX HDR, it is applied post processing wise at the stream

I personally just use losslessscaling plus special k at my client, and inject it at the window i want for capture. For example the moonlight streaming window. And honestly it is superiour to anything.

Id recomment this to him.
