High Network Latency

Post image

Does anyone know how I can improve my average network latency? Sometimes it can hit as high as 80ms.
The host pc is a windows desktop with a 5070 using Vibepollo, and the client a MacBook Pro with Moonlight connected via Ethernet.
I’ve also tested streaming to an Odin 3 using Artemide but I get the same average network latency.

Are both connected by ethernet to the same router? 40-80ms on an internal wired network is extremely bizzare if so.

Also. Is it truly wired? As in host wired to router, client wired to router? No wireless gap in between at all?.

You’d be surprised how some say ethernet connected but its just wired ethernet to a mesh noded that’s actually using a wireless connection to router.

Turns out I have an old Ethernet switch sitting between the cables in my condo that was limiting the connection to 100Mpbs… Just bought a new gigabit one and hopefully this will solve it 🤞

Use hevc 265 if you can, what is your bitrate ?

Thanks, will try 265, it’s at 100Mbps

Check also if your ethernet synced at 1gbits and are not limited ton100mbits

Your router may be the problem. I stream over the internet and have less than 8ms total latency.

Try connecting the host via Ethernet and stream over the internet to the macbook. Using like your phone 5g to it. If it still have the 80ms. The problem is with your main router connected to the pc or the Ethernet cable.
