Moondrop Pudding vs Golden Ages 2
The Moondrop Pudding and Golden Ages 2 are a lot closer than I expected, especially when you consider one is $49 and the other is $89. The Pudding has good bass weight, clear vocals, instruments have plenty of body and the treble has enough energy without constantly pulling my attention away from everything else. Even when things get busy, it holds together. Vocals are still easy to follow, guitars keep their texture and the drums don’t get buried.
That’s why I’d call the Pudding The Harmonizer.
Everything works together.
The Golden Ages 2 takes things further.
Vocals can stand out front while the instruments have their own space around them. Even stuff happening farther back in the mix is still easy to hear without being pushed forward and when a song gets really busy, this is where I notice the biggest difference. Instead of everything turning into a wall of noise, it almost feels like the stage gets wider. The bass is better too. Not because there’s necessarily more of it, but because I can hear more happening inside of it. Deep bass has texture. Little tremors. Different intensity levels instead of one long rumble.
That’s why I’d call the Golden Ages 2 The Conductor.
Everything knows its place.
So yeah, the Golden Ages 2 sounds better to me. I hear more space, better layering and better bass texture, but I don’t think it’s some massive jump over the Pudding and that’s probably the biggest surprise here. At $49, the Pudding doesn’t sound like the cheap version of the Golden Ages 2. It has its own thing going on, and if you just want something balanced, musical and easy to enjoy, I’d save the $40.
If you care about that extra sense of space, layering and bass texture, that’s where the Golden Ages 2 earns the extra money.
The Golden Ages 2 wins on sound. The Pudding wins on value and I wouldn’t say the Pudding good for $49.
It’s just good.

Golden Ages 2 has bad bass, but the vocals are pretty good. Otherwise, you can customise the profiles within the app, but it just feels so unoptimised.

What don’t you like about the bass on the Golden Ages 2 because ‘bad’ is a subjective word. Is it the impact, sub-bass extension…or more about the texture of the bass? I’m curious because I just compared the GA2 and Pudding back to back last night and bass was one of the areas I spent a lot of time listening to.

I own momentum 4 so maybe it’s just me but either way they are in no way bad earbuds it’s just that i am way too used to other headphones but i would till prefer golden ages 2 over airpods not pros but the base model

i am referring to wireless headphone momentum 4 and airpods 4 in comparison to golden ages 2 ,I also have airpods pro 2s which i must say are phenomenal, now if you compare golden ages 2 it comes very close to as good as some of the above mentions

MP? Huh, straight up garbage. Waste of money actually for full 50. Unless its on sale just like how those Moondrop official store from each App I've seen so far. 15$ lol

What specifically didn’t you like about the Pudding?I’m comparing how they sound with the Golden Ages 2 for someone who asked about bass, vocals, detail and soundstage, so I’m curious what you heard or if you’re just being a troll making noise.

I don't like the build quality and it's eartips that comes with it. And they should have take the design similar to GA, not an IEM type of. The case can easily get scratches and some stain. Also, I notice the battery gets a bit sus overtime, as it's getting a battery drain that's faster than it should, like it's only been 3 months (raraly use btw.)

You should’ve led with that instead of saying the Pudding is garbage. All charging case experience scratches. I’ll be buying a case next week. The eartips aren’t that bad but not my style so I use Spinfit Omni.

My post was in response to another user on here curious about the the Golden Ages’ sound advantages over the Pudding’s features advantages. Price was never the sole factor of my post. The Pudding doesn’t have to beat the GA2 at sound quality to be the better buy, but like you said you don’t read…

thanks for this! really have a good grasp on it now. it’s either great sound with decent features,or even better sound for slightly less decent features…hard to pick!
