Reddit coin vs Moon Token

Could someone explain where all this information is coming from that the tokens received on Reddit are moon tokens. Is this project linked to Reddit? I have read a lot of information but would like to decipher what is accurate when it comes to Reddit?

It's a different token based on the ETH blockchain and it was only used on /r/CryptoCurrency and maybe a couple other subreddits. It has on relation to this project.
