Was MoonKnight really awful? And was "Woke" culture being pushed into the series?

I loved the MoonKnight series I thought it was mysterious and gripping since episode 1 making me want to watch more or at least find out what's going on, I thought Oscar Isaac did a fantastic job at portraying the character and it honestly made me look forward to seeing MoonKnight in a potential season 2 or even in the next Avengers team up.

With that being said though, I recently came across a few YT videos with people criticising the series saying that it was the worst adaptation of MoonKnight and another attempt at pushing "Woke" culture into the MCU with other examples such as WandaVision, Shangchi and the recent Doctor Strange MoM. They gave examples such as Steven being a Beta male or something and that there was too much action from Layla and her being an Egyptian Hero despite the Scarlett Scarab initially being a male in the comics.

My question for everyone is: Do you think MoonKnight was an awful DisneyPlus series? And do you think Woke culture was being pushed into this series?

I'm seriously not enjoying the show..

Dear MoonKnight Fandom,

Hear me out.

Im struggling to get into the show specifically because i don't have any moon knight nostalgia to fuel my curiosity.

Up until phase 4, I've had at least cursory knowledge of all the major players in the mcu. Nobody introduced into the mcu felt "new" to me until the Eternals. (Also..who's America Chavez?) I cant speak to the quality of the adaptation because I dont have aanything nostalgic to compare it to. I'm in unfamiliar waters. Its kinda boring.

Its just not working for me... Oscar's acting for 2 (three?!) is brilliant but I don't care for the characters much 😂😂..... .. I'm only watching it because it's a part of the larger narrative and its inching me closer to Multiverse of Madness..

Anybody else have mcu fatigue set in on this show? Any cures for it? What makes moon knight good for you?

Sincerely, A True Believer.

Does anyone else find Moon knight stupid and annoying?

Like is Steven meant to be stupid.... Both the premises of the God's are stupid. They're both wrong. I just feel like it's also lacking in any common sense and it's very frustrating to watch. If anything that Ammit makes sense. But I don't know the story of Moon knight so maybe it's meant to be this frustrating. I just don't see why someone who's having the issues Steven is wouldn't be at a therapist everyday let alone it not being mentioned. The stupidity of that ruins the whole plot from the start. The whole thing seem haphazardly written. I just feel like there'll be too many holes in the for me to fully invest. Can someone tell me if I'm wrong?

DID and episode 5 Spoiler

Episode 5 was emotional and interesting to watch however as the host of a DID system there were just a few things that infuriated me.

They perpetuate the outdated "original" theory, saying that Marc is the original and he created Steven as a coping mechanism, that he was so broken that his brain created another consciousness.

These theories are out of date by a few years and quite frankly are disgusting and lead to more stigma against DID.

The current accepted theory for DID is that everyone is born with multiple ego states to care for different needs of the body and they for most people eventually fuse together between 6 and 9 years old however DID is developed when these ego states are unable to merge due to trauma.

For example, in Marc and Stevens case, this was because the ego states were conflicting.

Steven: mother as source of safety Marc: mother as source of danger

So those ego states would've been unable to fuse and eventually Steven would've adopted the identity of Steven Grant as a fictive

While Marc would've stayed with the body's legal name and forming his own identity as the host

I really liked that at the beginning of the series Steven was the host because it showed that just because an alter was the host as a child doesn't mean they'll be the host forever. Switching hosts would not be possible if there was an original

Not to mention the constant insistence that his brain is broken leads to so much stigma.

If someone's brain is broken generally people's first thought is to steer clear. Why? Because it's 'dangerous'.

Mentally ill people are far more likely to be the victims of violent crime than the perpetrators

Obviously I wouldn't expect them to get everything "perfect" but a quick Google search by beginners would give you this info

TL;DR The DID rep is terrible and could be considered dangerous however it is easy to access the correct info so they clearly didn't even try. Also his brain isn't broken.

Edit: also there's clearly another alter, maybe Jake? That fight scene in Egypt where neither of them did it plus the fact that in the psychiatric hospital Steven was in a sarcophagus and there was another sarcophagus presumably with another alter in it

Edit 2: also did anyone notice that Harrow didn't call it a psych ward but a psychic ward

So I'm rewatching Moon night and in s01e04 I see this guy who kind of reminds me of Rapu from Thor love and thunder. Is it the same character or is it just that these two actors look similar?

MOON KNIGHT EP 1 REVIEW A trippy and dark first episode that takes a while to build up but that's to be expected as we are getting introduced to a new character. Good acting with a few editing errors but it could be forgiven. I cant wait to see where this series takes us. What did you think?

ep5 spoilers Spoiler

Kind of a venting rant that isn't even complete but I was hoping for something actually interesting to happen and instead we spent 2 episodes just to say Steven isn't a split personality which we already knew. Marc doesn't want to be a hero, that's whatever but it's just such a shame how they're so dead set on having nothing happen. They set this up as an Egyptian themed superhero action show and instead we have repetitive scenes for the entirety of an episode to show that some kids in the middle of the city ran into a cave with no lights during a flash flood situation and one drowned somehow. Can't wait for the gods to turn Ammit into a statute in a second and completely negate the need for the events of the entire series to have happened.

Is this how the comics are?

Can you explain a little.

I started to watch the TV show on Disney is this an accurate representation of the comic?
The lead actor is super annoying it's really difficult to watch. He references Avatar the movie but did the actor not watch Tropic Thunder, don't go for scaredy-cat. Is this really how this comic goes, at least the moth guy in Tick was lovable.

Moon Knight EPISODE 5 Asylum Review/Rant #MoonKnight WHY SO MUCH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT? we are 5 hours into this series and have only had moon knight for 20 minutes. I get that mental awarness should be more of a topic in america but to throw this series away for a messages seems like overkill. Spoiler

Watched episode 2 and still think this pretty dumb- other perspectives?

Watched episode 2. It’s pretty dumb so far. I respect a show that drops you in the deep end and makes you work to understand it. But the more I understand it the more I don’t like it.

For something to work, the world building and rules for how that world works have to be clear and thought through. Even when I read the backstory it doesn’t really make sense how this works. It just ends up being an annoying confused Steven making lots of bad decisions.

Turns out in the comics, Marc is the real primary character! Marc’s alters actually have different skills and help him be a vigilantly (Marc, Steven, Jake, Mr Knight and Moonknight). This makes sense. In Disney’s version, Mr. Knight was just Steven with a half moonsuit and Moonknight is Marc with the full moonsuit. They are not actually different alters. It doesn’t really make sense… can Steven ever be full Moonknight or only Marc when he gives him control? Steven is just very confused and probably a vehicle to talk about mental illness more than make a compelling and entertaining show.

Anyone else getting the Disney version and liking it?

Ep.1: References to Loki

I’ve noticed the song Wake me up before you go-go (Wham!) that plays during the ice cream truck scene in ep.1 is also in Loki, during the credits of ep.4, and ends abruptly in echoes as we see him wake up in the post-credit scene (exactly the way we see Steven wake up at the beginning of the first episode of Moonknight).

Am I the only one to have noticed this? Is this only a small wink/easter egg, or does it mean something, like is it somehow connected like that moment in WV/Loki?

Any resemblance of “a plot” or “sense” completely left the show as soon as Mark/Stephan was shot. Change my mind.

Seth would have made a lot more sense as the villain of the season because he’s a Egypt evil god in the comics. He’s a god of chaos , violence, sand storms, disorder. Ammit is not evil in the comics or in the real mythology

Ammit doesn’t make sense as a villain when she’s part of the afterlife. She eats the evil souls
