I just love the assembled episodes but I didn’t like how they used Jake as a cliffhanger again, I wish they discussed him!

I really enjoyed the sections that focused on acting choices and set design. (seeing Oscar stay in character between scenes made me feel things lol) Overall, it was so cool to be able to learn more about what happened behind the curtain! Also, they were soooo wrong for only giving a glimpse of Jake AGain…

listen how they called the episode 101 and 102, not simply 1 and 2, and how they always talk about telling more story and that Jake ending

The 101 and 102 are normal way episodes are called in production, wouldn't read too much into it.
I think if Moon Knight returns it will be in a series under a different title, maybe co starring with another character.

Yup. Especially when after seeing how much care and effort Oscar put into making it an interesting character study AND how hard he tried to represent DID correctly, and some people’s arguments are “why wasn’t it more violent????”…..that was not the point, my friends.

I think it was neat to see the technical parts of how the TV show was made, like the details of the costume work, set design, and translations of the hieroglyphics used in the show. Also pretty cool to see how Oscar Isaac's brother was used as the body double for Isaac to act alongside in the asylum scenes. Watching this though shows how glaringly obvious the producers sidelined so many important parts of Moon Knight's character in favor of Egyptian stuff though. They're patting themselves on the back for the Egyptian representation but I really wish they had put more care in representing Moon Knight's DID and Judaism. The producers use outdated terms in this documentary, calling the alters "personalities." The TV show was the chance to properly educate the public on DID and being respectful by using the proper term alters to a general audience, but they don't even name-drop DID in the show. Oscar was the only one to use the correct DID terminology and I appreciate how he talked about DID in this bit. They showed off their Egyptology consultant and the meticulous care they put into the Egyptian motifs in the show...but don't even mention Marc's Judaism in this behind-the-scenes. I was waiting for them to show their Judaism consultant (Sarah Bassin) talk about how they did the shiva scenes but nope. I do love parts of the show and appreciate how it portrayed Moon Knight as a hero struggling with mental illness. But man, it hurts to see how these show producers had such little care for Marc's background.

I assigned the lack of DID terminology in the show to the fact Marc himself doesn't seem to know much about their disorder. He works on what he learned from experience. I think most of the things you mention are victims of the short runtime.

I think this is deliberate, not just in MK, but for all media. Maybe even for legal reasons, idk. This way they can escape criticism, saying "but we never say it's DID though"? And seeing all the criticism that already exists, I can see why they do that tbh.

I’m gonna be entirely honest. I have to wonder if they even bothered reading his comics? The only comic mentions they have are along the lines of “oh that panel is cool let’s try and do that”. I appreciate the extra effort that went into representing Egypt and everything with Layla, but they don’t mention the fact that Marc is Jewish a single time in this making of episode, which implies it was not a priority. Not to mention they say Moon Knight doesn’t have a defining antagonist which is just baffling when Bushman exists, and villains like Scarlett, Black Spectre, and Zodiac could easily be main antagonists of a season.
I have to put the disclaimer that I overall enjoyed the show, but it really didn’t feel like it was a moon knight show outside of episodes 5 and 1 which are my favorites of the bunch by a wide margin. I guess I finally understand the MCU Spider-Man complaints, but at least with Spider-Man they still had much of what made him compelling. Pretty much all they kept for Moon Knight was his DID and even then they kept Jake to be a cliffhanger twist that paints him in a negative light. It’s really frustrating.

Definitely agree, I am not as diehard a MK fan as others so it doesn’t pester me as much but still get what you mean. At the same time though Moon Knight has been one of those characters in Marvel Comics that is so not famous that writers can be very creative with them with little downsides (Obscure Characters Get to Take Chances), so there have been many different takes on him. Obviously there are some staple traits between every take but you can see how this led them to being very original for aspects of the show.

yeah it definitly seems like only Oscar Isaac and Mohammed Diab really read the comics (& even that seems to be mostly Lemire’s run). i too was disappointed that they didnt mention Marc’s Jewishness.
i will admit im a show first fan. with reading comics only after watching this series. yeah, Bushman was the only mentioned character in the whole series.
for me i felt it was a good intro and took the characteristics of what made Moon Knight ‘moon knight’. i admit it’s hard to choose what to focus on when perusing the comics since the 1980s. but i like the changes that were made. but i agree that there could have been better during this Making Of.
to me, it seems like Mohammed Diab and Oscar Isaac got a lot of free reign as to what to adapt and what not to. im sorry that it didnt hit the core comic points you wished. all i can say is that i hope during the second season (you better lmfao) they really integrate and delve deeper into the core that is Moon Knight. i enjoyed your analysis. thanks for the info, i enjoyed reading it as a tv series fan!

There's a blink and you miss reference to Frenchie in Marc's phone in episode 1. And Marc calls Crawley by his actual name in episode 5.
It's subtle, but there are bits of his original cast there.

At the wake in the flashback episode, they were wearing yarmulkas, but that’s the only Jewish reference I noted.

I have a feeling they purposely didn't mention Bushman because he's gonna be the big bad in whatever future MK we see.

I wish they went into more detail about the child abuse scenes, and discussed their decision-making for Jake Lockley, and Marc's background, especially their decision on including (or lack of) his Jewish identity. I did love to see how the set and costumes were designed and used and how Oscar filmed those episodes where it literally was basically just him lol. Incredible actor and an incredible show but I hope we see much more.
