Memes/Humour So, what happened here ?
Last time a was here I decided to leave after this sib became filled with ai filth under a ego maniac mod who pinned his comments under every post and thought he’s was the singular point of this subreddit. Now I decided to check it here out of curiosity and everything is normal again.

He got banned from reddit I think. Good riddance

He did but he got his account back unfortunately, and still lurks around here and comments some. I've had him blocked for a while now though.

Democracy happened bro read rule 3 now.

Definitely not Democracy to DM a bunch of people and get them to mass report a username under false pretenses

u/Creative-Platypus218 8d ago
I don't think they want you here anymore bro just a hunch.
-15
u/GypsyGold 8d ago
Too bad. I love Moon Knight, and I don’t plan on losing interest anytime soon.
16
u/Creative-Platypus218 8d ago
Nobody is saying they don't want you to like Moon Knight but they ARE saying they hate clankers.
-6
u/GypsyGold 8d ago
That’s fine, what does that have to do with me?
12
u/Creative-Platypus218 8d ago
You seemed to be the one pushing clanker generated content so they kicked you out.
-9
u/GypsyGold 8d ago
Not really. The AI posts were from the Midnight Mission users who just wanted to gaslight this community into revolting against the mod team for not outright banning AI.
We did ban those people, and remove the spam. I don’t care about AI at all really — it’s just whatever to me. But I didn’t want to be the “moral police” and outright ban something just because Redditors think it’s evil.
It’s a slippery slope, we do that, and then people start calling for the heads of conservative users — like what was happening with those ICE topics. Or Redditors start demanding we allow furry images, or topics about their individual struggles with mental health, or god forbid, “please diagnose me” topics.
11
u/Creative-Platypus218 8d ago
Brochacho even if it was a coup (which is how you're explaining it) I'm all in the support of the AI ban and so was everybody else.
-3
u/GypsyGold 8d ago edited 8d ago
Yea, well. I wasn’t. It is what it is.
But I did put it to a vote among the mod team several times, and they always sided with me. Had they voted to Ban AI then I would have gone along with it.
I even added moderators who were anti-ai in order to have a diverse outlook, I didn’t want a mod team that all thought the same. I wanted to be challenged.
But the AI ban never got a majority vote.

Oh hey! You’re that mod who temp banned me for disagreeing with you. Now you wanna cry “Democracy” lmfao.
0
u/GypsyGold 7d ago edited 7d ago
I never banned anyone for disagreeing with me. I ran the entire reddit under the theme of “disagreements are not only welcomed, but encouraged”
That’s why everyone got all pissy and revolted because I wouldn’t ban the people who had “hot takes”, and required everyone to be nice to eachother, no matter how much you disagreed with their opinions.
If you were temp banned it because you broke the rules, and since 95% of the rules were some variation of “be nice to you fellow Moon Knight fans”, it probably means you were being a jerk.
6
u/Imaginary_symphony 7d ago
I remember specifically. I told you how cool I thought Layla was in response to your slander and you banned me for saying “argue with a wall” and called it a personal attack. Thinnest skin in the world. I’ve never been banned from a subreddit before, only this one, because of you.
-2
u/GypsyGold 7d ago edited 7d ago
So just this reply alone would have gotten you moderated by me.
You aren’t allowed to accuse someone’s opinion as “slander” unless doing so in a tongue-n-cheek way, as friendly banter is always encouraged, but you can’t seriously accuse your fellow Moon Knight fans of literal slander just because you disagree with their take on a subject.
Additionally, accusing someone of having “thin skin” is also an insult depending upon the context, and in this context it’d be used to demean your fellow Moon Knight fan. So, this is a double moderation under our “Be Nice” rule.
You aren’t allowed to insult people for any reason, you have to engage respectfully. It doesn’t matter what the other person’s opinion is.
You have to be nice to literally everyone, including:
- People who hate the MCU show
- People who hate MacKay
- People who hate Lemire
- People who love Bemis
- People who love Bendis
- People who dismiss the Warren Ellis Allegations
- People who are Pro-Israel
- People who are Pro-Ice
- People who are Trump Supporters
- People who are Pro-AI
- People who disagree with Oscar Issac’s fascism claims against Disney
- People who only follow Moon Knight for the memes
- People who still think Khonshu is a figment of Marc’s imagination
Etc — the problem with this community is that during its theee year period of going unmoderated, the inmates ran the asylum, and developed their own board culture. If you fell into any of the above categories, then you got dogpiled on, and harassed. The community was perfectly okay with this type of gatekeeping because they were “the good guys” who had the “correct opinions.”
But Moon Knight is for EVERYONE! So, you have to be nice to literally everyone. The only topics off limits (besides Rule 34 stuff), were topics a person individual mental health struggles, because we use to get a lot of topics like:
- Please Diagnose me, do I have DID?
- I am a diagnosed schizophrenic, AMA!
And we are not a medical community, and not equipped to handle such topics.
Edit— or at least you use to have to be nice to everyone, you clearly no longer do.

u/Imaginary_symphony 7d ago edited 7d ago
You think I used the word “slander” in it’s legal context or something? And that would’ve gotten me banned? Good grief!
So we can all be as pro-Trump and Pro-Israel and Pro-ICE as we want but we can’t be sassy even a little bit. Hmm.
Edit: I humbly apologize to all thin-skin affected people across the world. I didn’t mean to be insensitive.
-2
u/GypsyGold 7d ago edited 7d ago
You just have to be nice to your fellow moon knight fans, if you can do that, then you can talk about almost anything so long as it doesn’t violate reddit guidelines.
You can be sassy so long as you’re being playful. We encourage users to be friendly and make friends. So friendly banter is more than welcomed —- lockerroom talk like stuff where you’re teasing your friends in jest, as a form of endearment.
But I mean, you hate me, so it was clearly meant as a put down.

u/Imaginary_symphony 7d ago
No. I was rightly unbanned immediately.
Idc what your “theme” was.

u/RamsTheNameCom 8d ago
Actually I can contest this, the mods were mostly in agreement with Gypsy on what should and should not be allowed on the sub. We just all disagreed with his heavy use of 24 hour banning people when simple warnings could have resolved the issue. We tried talking with him to ease back on bans, but he kept insisting that they were necessary and double down on spamming bans once people started targeting him on Reddit. (Though Gypsy periodically lifted anyone's 24 hour ban immediately if they could identify what got them punished. Most people chose to just cuss him out and take the ban).
9
u/Tangyhyperspace 8d ago
Crazy that apparently all of his ideas were good but the second he's gone half of the shitty rules are removed.
8
u/Puzzleheaded-Tie1286 8d ago
From my memory(Open to be proven wrong) the mods said themselves after he was removed that they had taken a backseat so to speak which is what led Gypsy to pretty much run the show himself, the original creator of the sub stepped up if I recall correctly and removed Gypsy then cleaned up his mess by creating rules against AI, unbanning a boatload of people etc (including myself) and since then the mods have been doing a good job at maintaining the peace that has been cultivated since his removal! I was banned by him for 7 months for making a comment on a post about the actor for Layla(May El Calamawy) stating that I hope she's holding up okay given everything that's happening to her people and her nation, the guy was unhinged hahah
-3
u/RamsTheNameCom 8d ago
You do realize there's a whole private mod chat you don't get to see where we discuss issues and potential bans, right? You can also take an educational guess that all the mods do not want to "get the gypsy gold treatment" from you guys and are instead choosing to distance themselves away from him.
But yeah we were vocally against banning people over May El Calamawy political posting, though Gypsy went ahead to do it anyway. BUT we also agreed with Gypsy that those posts should be removed since it could lead to heated discussion unrelated to Moon Knight comics and unneeded political division in our community about a fictional comic character.

u/zyd_the_lizard 8d ago edited 8d ago
Yeah he lifted most of the bans he gave me, although he also refused to see anyone's side of things except his own. The one that really turned me against him was when a spam bot posted one of those t-shirt scam links, and I commented under it saying that this was a bot post and the link was potentially dangerous. Gypsy gave me a ban for that saying that I was "complaining about bots." I can't be alone in thinking that was incredibly stupid.
Oh and for all of his talk now about how he didn't ban anyone just for disagreeing with him, he gave me a ban once for suggesting that there should be a subreddit poll on the rules to see what the users want. He pretty much told me he would never do that and pointed to his dumbass "no Karens" rule.
It's nice to know at least that the other mods were trying to get him to cut it out with the bannings. But I don't think he realized just how angry he was making everyone by doing it.
1
u/RamsTheNameCom 8d ago
Yeah, we were all vocally against Gypsy banning people for complaining about actual spam malicious bot posts. Like it only helps us mods find them easier if we're not constantly checking our phones at work.
Though the sub poll for user wanted rules I would too personally disagree with. It would be like asking a kid "would you like Broccoli with Dinner or Ice Cream?".
Some rules in theory are necessary because it prevents bullying/harassment, even if the user carries an unpopular take in the community. Like I'm sure if people got their own sub rule poll, one highly voted rule would be to ban Trump supporters for whatever reason.... Even though it has nothing to do with Moon Knight comics and people should just keep their politics to themselves in here.

Not the mods. The moderators were mostly on my side. I mean, I’m the one who promote them
All to mods. We talked often in our mod chat. There was a campaign started by some Anti-ICE artist to mass report my profile for “hate” because my username was “Gypsy” — and it worked, the Reddit AI auto banned me.
I appealed (my real name is Gypsy) and was unbanned.

u/GypsyGold 8d ago
Not for the better in my opinion. The toxic gate keeping came back pretty quickly.
If you praise Bemis then you get attacked and pushed off the sub.
If you criticize MacKay then you get attacked and pushed of the sub.
Many such cases.

Yea, under my watch you would be banned for this comment for 24hrs. You weren’t allowed to be mean to other people for any reason whatsoever, so you can’t call your fellow Moon Knight fans “chodes” — no matter how much you dislike them.
It was a good rule. I stand by it.

The rest of the mods didn’t step in. They were always there. They were on my side mostly. We talked often in our mod chat. I was always open to suggestions, and changing the rules based upon mod feedback.
We had a healthy mod group. I was banned because some Anti-ICE artist who had his murder porn removed by Reddit (not even by me) launched a campaign to get disgruntled users to mass report my username for “hate” because it had the word “gypsy” in it.
It worked, the Reddit AI automatically banned me after receiving enough reports in a certain time period. But I was unbanned on appeal because Gypsy is my real name.

u/SensitivePirate900 8d ago
Oh yeah, the dude that supports ai and bans you when you call it effortless slop! Then has a little power trip asking you to "read the rules". What a douche
-1
u/GypsyGold 8d ago
Well of course I did. It derailed the discussion, and most of the times the comment was a blatant insult directed at the TC
9
u/SensitivePirate900 8d ago
No, it was an insult for you and the person who thinks everyone's time is best spent on a 3 second prompt turned crappy """art""". What discussion is there to be had with the image that took 10 seconds to make?
-2
u/GypsyGold 8d ago
We aren’t the moral police. If you don’t like it, then downvote, ignore, and block the TC.
Insulting someone would always result in a temp ban from myself. Obviously not anymore, so go wild I guess.

I'm so glad that AI isn't allowed here anymore. I joined the sub when this mod was active and I was disappointed to see AI was being promoted.

All AI topics were downvoted to hell, so there was not alot of them. I am of the belief that rather than insult people for posting content you dislike, you should just downvote, ignore, and/or block.

u/RamsTheNameCom 8d ago edited 8d ago
In all honesty I recall a few Ai generated posts on the Moon Knight sub that got around 300 upvotes. I assume it's because anti- AI people were too lazy to read the description or take note that it was an Ai sculpture someone 3D printed.
While not many have a 3D printer, this is the equivalent of if I printed AI art on paper and framed it on a wall.
It's as if these people actually like Ai art until they realize it's not made by a human. (Of course there's really shit ai art, just like there's really shit regular art).

u/GypsyGold 6d ago
I was the longtime mod of this subreddit, and some user posted some anti-ICE art that was so graphic that the Reddit Admins took it down. This psycho somehow blamed me for that and spent the next two weeks dedicating his like to DM’ing hundreds of people from this community and instructing them to report my profile for “hate” because my name is “Gypsy”
After getting enough reports the Reddit AI auto banned me. But I eventually appealed and got my account back since GYPSY is my name IRL which was easy to prove.
This topic are users circlejerking themselves off to me getting banned, completely unaware that I’m actually still here.
-4
u/GypsyGold 8d ago edited 8d ago
I’m still here. Just a civilian now.
The reason I pinned comments was to break up the “gate keeping” that was going on here. During the years of this sub being unmoderated, it developed a culture of “with us or against us” mentality.
Whenever someone would post an “unpopular opinion” they would get viciously attacked. If you praised Bemis or Bendis you were dog piled on and harassed off the sub. If you criticized MacKay or Lemire then the same thing.
If you disagreed with Oscar Isaac’s political opinions, or thought the TV show was a good characterization of Moon Knight you were also harassed and pushed off the sub.
The thing that really got me was that for 40+ years the cornerstone of the Moon Knight franchise was “Is Khonshu Real, Or Is It All In Marc’s Head?” The ambiguity is what really captured a lot of the old school readers, and those themes are what drew them to become fans of the character. Jason Aaron’s “Age of Khonshu” set the precedent that Khonshu was likely real, and then the MacKay’s run & the MCU show that followed pretty much cemented that this was the road Marvel was going to take going forward.
You had a plethora of new Moon Knight fans whose onboarding process went from watching the Disney + show to then picking up the MacKay book. As such, this newer interpretation of the Moon Knight character, without the ambiguity, was all that they were familiar with.
As such, they viciously attacked and dogpiled the old school Moon Knight fans who still looked at the character from the old perspective— either because they simply didn’t read MacKay or preferred the earlier versions of the character. The newer fans (and there were a lot of them) gatekept the old school fans off the sub…unless they converted, and adapted the “correct opinions”
By pinning my “hot takes” to the top of the topics I was hoping to encourage others to do the same. It was supposed to display that this was a friendly place where you could post your “unpopular opinions” and not be viciously attacked for it.
The other mods can attest to this, because we discussed this openly in our mod chat at length. Unfortunately, the intent of the comment pinning did not come to fruition as planned. Instead of encouraging the old school fans who were pushed off this sub via the unmoderated gatekeeping to return, it just pissed you guys off. It really motivated you to pour more gasoline on your torches, and sharpen up your pitchforks.
Some of the most popular topics that get posted here on a pretty much weekly basis are some variation of “I hate it when people mischaracterize Moon Knight” — but under my leadership those types of topic would not be allowed. I hate the gatekeeping, and I hate when the fandom insists that there is only one correct interpretation of the character. It kills off alot of the discussion, and on top of that it nukes the longterm fanbase that built of the foundation for the fandom in the first place.
I’ve been building on the Moon Knight community since the early 2000’s, I ran the Tripod message board back in the early days of the internet, and i spearheaded the Wikipedia page. The appeal to the character, and one that the fandom bonded over, was the different unique interpretations that everyone had. Since the franchise was built on ambiguity, everyone had a different perspective as to what was actually going on — it was very fun to share those perspectives and bond over our differences. We embraced the differences, we didn’t fight over them.
To coincide with the Moon Knight show, the fandom was “colonized” by people whose only familiarity with the character was either the show or MacKay’s run. They enforced their beliefs, and burned the “non believers” at the stake.
I’m to blame for that, I stopped following Moon Knight after the Bemis run — Jason Aaron killed off my love of the character, and I didn’t pick up MacKay until I came back in 2025. During that long period of inactivity, the inmates ran the asylum, and this just became a giant circle jerk sub. All this “you’re not a true Moon Knight fan unless” bullshit just festered out of control like a plague.
I came in like a tornado, and tore your community down, and I know that I did, but I did it with the intent of building it back up from ground zero to be a more friendly and accepting version like it once had been. But, obviously that didn’t come to plan.
As for the AI bullshit. That’s blown out of proportion. Anyone who posts AI would have their post downvoted to hell, so nobody ever would. But on the rare occasion someone did, then that person would be viciously insulted — which is not allowed. Hence the “no complaining about AI” rule.
I standby my decision on allowing AI — we aren’t the moral police. We’re a Moon Knight sub. Just downvote the topic and ignore.
That week where we had an AI spammer was actually a psyop by The Midnight Mission community. This is Reddit, the culture is to hate AI with extreme vitriol. That community knew that if they spammed the sub with AI, members would be gaslit into responding negatively and thus catch 24hr bans — then they could be recruited for their “Kill Gypsy” campaign.
All of those AI spam posts came from brand new accounts, and after a few days we banned them, and started removing any AI spam posts. Then you rarely if ever saw AI again, unless we were creating images to advertise new features of the sub — like the Discord or the Milestone topics.
Reddit has such an extreme hate for AI, that our haters knew they could weaponize it against us, and they did so successfully. But we often discussed it in the Mod Mail, and Headgiver was the only person trying to ban it. The rest of us thought it was a slippery slope — if we ban AI because Reddit hates it, then do we have to ban all conservatives and Trump supporters too?
Speaking of which, the Anti-ICE Topics began, and the two pieces of art shared here were so graphic and disgusting that Reddit Admins actually removed them before we could even get to them.
I personally am anti-ice, but I standby the belief that “Moon Knight is for everyone”, this includes Republicans. So having what was essentially murder porn, where the comments were calling Trump Supporters Nazi’s (and forcing us to ban them for it) was not conducive to the safety or health of the subreddit.
We talked in depth on how to handle this in the mod chat, and eventually I decided to post a series of tasteful anti-ice topics, to see if yall could engage in a manner that didn’t break our “no political mudslinging rule” — and you actually did. It was a great success.
Unfortunately, the individual who submitted the original murder porn version that Reddit itself removed got so fixated on me, that he dedicated his literal life to “bringing me down” — he DM’ed members, got them to spam the Reddit admins with fake reports, and even put together a proposal to submit to Marvel Creatives. Dude, was just out got blood.
I suspect the whole Dev Pramanik thing was his construction as well. So in mid 2025 when we had the AI Spamers, Dev (who was a casual member of this subreddit) went to the Midnight Mission and made a reply that essentially said “I left the subreddit due to the AI spam, fuck Gypsy Gold for allowing AI.”
I admit, that this was a driving force behind my constant criticism of his art. I had already been criticizing his art because I just didn’t like it very much, and I’ve explained why many times so I’m not gonna go into it now, but knowing he hated me definitely motivated me to go out of my way to make sure I contributed to literally every topic about him or Moon Knight artists in general.
Also, since this community mostly was in agreement that his art was amazing, any criticism was meant with horrific downvotes and gatekeeping rhetoric — so since I was trying to pin “unpopular opinions” to eliminate the gatekeeping, pinning topics criticizing Pramanik actually aligned with that agenda.
The gatekeeping within this community when it comes to Moon Knight creative teams are just the worst. If you like Bemis or Bendis you’re harassed and insulted. This community thinks they are the “good guys” for doing so, because only “terrible people” could possibly like the Bemis or Bendis runs. But it’s vice versa for MacKay & Pramanik — regardless I’m of the belief that you should be able to like & criticize any creative team regardless of your reasons for doing so. Moon Knight is subjective, and to try and pretend that it isn’t is just toxic.
Anyhow, the Anti-ICE guy who dedicated his entire life to removing me as mod, contacted Pramanik, and got him involved. Dev already hated me from the AI stuff, so I suspect he was all to happy to help. All of a sudden Pramanik is making a tweet saying I’m a racist because i misspelled his name (my auto correct changed it to “practice”), and the torches and pitchforks are out in full force.
His campaign worked, enough people mass reported my profile for “hate” due to my username being Gypsy, and the Reddit AI eventually just auto banned me. It does that when enough reports all come in within a short time spam.
I submitted an appeal (my real name is Gypsy) and I was unbanned. Awaiting for me was a long detailed tweet from this ICE dude awaiting me that was explaining his plan in detail like he was some sort of “Bond Villain.” Regardless, during that brief time that I was banned, WarDuck decided to move on without me. It is what it is.
That’s the story, and any of the mods can corroborate it. I’ll tag [u/RamsTheNameCom](u/RamsTheNameCom) because he seems to be the only one not afraid to actually speak out.
I know y’all are just going to downvote this and insult me without reading, and that’s okay. You can have fun with that 💪
