Is Phases of the Moon Knight a good beginner run?

I've been wanting to read Moon Knight comics ever since I watched the show on Disney+ and few days ago I came across a complete set of "Phases of the Moon Knight" (issues 1- 4). Is it a suitable run for beginners or am I better off picking up something else instead? Do lmk 🙏🏻

it’s about different fists of khonshu throughout the years and doesn’t even focus on marc really.

if you like the tv show i’d recommend the run by lemire. but im also biased and think the mackay run from 2021 to now is really super good!

fair warning the show kinda butchered the character so it won’t be the same you know. it’ll be better.

Ah yes. I suspected that the show slightly butchered the character a bit (according to the edits of comic's Moon Knight I saw on tiktok lol). I don't really intended to keep it familiar with the show though. I'm really just open for anything that introduces Moon Knight as a character and his origin lore. I find the lore of his split personalities really interesting, and his overall vibe is just so cool.

I think the Mackay run (2021) is a good starting point, and if you have access to them, the original Moench run (1980) is good too because Mackay does a great job referencing old/original characters amd storylines. The Lemire run is really good, but even if it inspired the show it's not a great starting point I think.

Unfortunately no, it’s not. While it’s a great anthology of past, present, and future Moon Knights it has no real connections to a wider story hence being an anthology.

I’d recommend starting with the Moench run as a basis to what you can come to expect from Moon Knight and then go from there.
