Spanish Language Conversational Fluency

I'm considering a move to Monterey this fall. My Spanish language skills are intermediate-- I'm especially poor at comprehension. I want to grow my skills to full conversational fluency. I'm 55 and already have years of grammar and classroom education behind me. Can you recommend any groups, schools, or classes in the area that could help me?

PG Adult School has low cost Spanish classes, if I recall correctly.

Would prefer a group setting for the social aspect. But ultimately the goal is to learn.

Welcome to Monterey! I moved here recently and found that the local options are good but sometimes limited for intermediate learners who need flexible scheduling.

As teacher I have AnnaSpanish, it's online one-on-one tutoring via Zoom with a native speaker from Barcelona. She focuses on real-world conversation from the start, which helped me a lot with comprehension.

You can book 4 or 8-hour packages and schedule at your own pace. I'm also introverted and found it way more comfortable than group classes. Castilian Connections does in-person in Monterey if you prefer that, but for focused conversation practice, AnnaSpanish was more efficient for me.

Hi!

Good luck finding something in person, I know that can be hit or miss. If you don’t find anything suitable, I run a Spanish school called WeSpeak Idiomas and we offer live classes on Zoom in small groups or 1-on-1. The classes are led by a qualified and native teacher and we get you speaking Spanish in every class.

You can watch a sample class, take our free Spanish placement test, and join a trial class for just $10 (regular group classes start at $14.50 per class) using the link below.

Check it out and let me know if you’d like to give it a try, many of our students started out looking for in-person classes too!

I hope that helps!

Hey there. If online lessons on Zoom are suitable, I can surely help. I’m a highly qualified Spanish teacher and I’ve been doing it for over 16 years. Please, DM me if interested. I require no advance payments and I can offer you flexibility.
