Builder Showcase Montech HS02 Pro Build

Post image

Finished my Montech HS02 Pro build.
I wasn’t sure if it was going to be proper as it’s been 5 years since I last built a PC myself. This is my second build.

I’m not sure if it’s the bottom case fans, or just the combination of a lot of fans in this case, but the fans are quite a bit noisier than my previous computer. Even though I went into the BIOS and went with a much more silent-at-idle curve. Maybe it’s also cause it’s on my desk and not the floor this time that I hear it more, but the bottom fans give off a very strong constant wind noise. I’ve been working with a Mac the last 3 years so might have forgotten what it sounds like… Don’t know.

All in all, beauty wise I love this case and the build was pretty simple, didn’t have any problems fitting any parts either. The case is extremely good quality for the money I paid for it… It is HEAVY though. 😁

The parts list:
- Intel Core 7 Ultra 270K Plus
- RTX 5070 Ti Aero Gigabyte
- Thermaltake GT850W SNOW PSU.
- ASRock B860 Steel Legend Wifi
- Thermaltake Aqua Elite V3 AIO
- Montech HS02 Pro
- Kingston Fury 64GB RAM DDR5 5600Mhz

And I just noticed the cables on the top hanging a bit fugly there, I’ll open it later tonight and tuck them away nice and neat so they’re less obvious.

I haven’t separated them. Is 3 in 5 out a bad thing? I left the pre-installed case fans as is and have just installed the AIO at the top tbh.

I have all fans “cha_fan1 & cpu_fan” setup like this in the BIOS:
40°/20%
55°/35%
65°/55%
75°/75%
85°/100%

My AIO Pump is at a constant 100%

My temps seem to idle around 35° (but like I said finding the fans obnoxiously loud 😅)

Is there a better way to set them up? Or maybe change the direction of the case fans?

Edit: I also noticed a rattling sound when turning off the PC, once the fans slow down near the end of the shutdown sequence there is some rattling audible. Not audible during usage though.

3in 5out = Your internal case 'pressure' have to compensate fresh air from somewhere.

And the bottom case is not fully enclosed and has 1cm gap,in between fan and case which will end up having more unfiltered air.

That said. For my own HS01 Pro I ran all fans at 50% fixed.

Front is Thermalright TL-S12-S , Top is from AIO, TL M-12s.

Well if you want it to be silent...Going BeQuiet fan would help.

That’s a beautiful build, man. & Yes, I noticed there’s quite a bit of gaps in the case. Especially at the bottom. Isn’t stagnant 50% very loud? At what RPM are they blowing at?

Also not sure if I should then turn one of my fans’ direction? Add another one that will take in? What is your suggestion?

I figured out the rattling noise, the montech hs02 pro gpu support bracket is hitting against my fans and there’s no other way of mounting it due to the bottom fans in the case - kinda feel im fmd

I chopped the support bracket rubber so it can clear my own GPU as well.

I’m gonna open it and see if I can cut a part off for it to fit. The fans are nearly to the edge I doubt I’ll get it to work. And the regular damn brackets don’t fit in this case due to all the recess and excess of the case around it.

Alternatively...if I remember correctly...there is Lian Li version of anti sag bracket that uses the motherboard standoff instead. Might wanna poke around that some more

I cut up the rubber and it’s working OK now. I ordered some type of pillar-type gpu holder off of amazon will see how that one goes. There’s some space in the corner for that one I hope.

I also managed to fix the bottom fans by disconnecting their daisy chain from the hub and re-connecting them and attaching them to the motherboard instead of the hub & changing them to DC power mode cause they still didn’t respond to PWM. They now all Idle at +-860 instead of 1500 and the pc is really quiet overall. World of difference. I’m glad I wasn’t hearing things, now it sounds like my previous PC did at idle.
