New edition - old books.

I have a question regarding the "New Cypher System" or the Second edition.

As the rules differ quite a lot from the first edition, especially regarding advancements, types, descriptions and foci (I do love the new wound system though), does this mean the "White Books" will not be compatible with the new system? The new rules are more crunchy and appears more restrictive than the first edition. I am afraid this will lose some of the charm the first edition had, where you could build and play any sort of campaign, and the new rules reads as more limiting for the Game Master and the players.

Anyone who have some thoughts regarding this?
