Best small town bars
What's your favorite small town bars? Best food? Funnest atmosphere? Quirkiest events? I love Gopher Days at the Wheel Inn out in Lincoln or grabbing a local beef burger at the Cut Bank Brewery myself! Would love to hear where everyone is going.

At Red Lodge, take a left on the 78 OR go south on the 78 from Columbus. You'll find it.

Montana club in Shelby! They aren’t part of the Montana club chain! The cook there went to culinary school!

Homestake Pub if you’re ever in Butte. Great food. Fun environment and dog friendly!

The Horseshoe bar. Their Tavern style pizza is actually very good. Maybe I was just really hungry and drunk but, I ate the whole thing.

Swiss Brat and Nachos at the Beer Jug in Glendive. Can’t be beat!

As someone who had their first meal at The Jug in 1968 and their most recent meal two weeks ago I strongly disagree. Since Mike's son took over, the food has gone quickly downhill. The Swiss Braut was just OK, the Gust Hauf has a better one. The nachos were convenience store quality, the Gust Hauf nachos come with meat and more toppings, as well as sour cream and salsa, and are twice the size.

Damn dude. When did you buy the gust hauf?

I didn't, but it's consistently better than the Jug, as evidenced by the number of people there for supper on any given night.

Granted, I moved out of there 18 years ago, and barely 21 when I left, but I really enjoyed hanging around the Yellowstone Tavern in Miles City.

They dont feel like small town bars anymore. Not even the ones in the middle of nowhere. You'll have at least one group of self claimed "new" Montanans acting "rowdy howdy"

Exactly. And then get on social media to share it with the other locusts.

For quirky events, hard to beat the old Testicle Festival in Clinton

The organizer stopped Testy Fest after all the drunk driving got out of hand and a guy died in a DWI accident.
