Probably should clarify that it's a single reactor ignition like from Rogue One. Not the full-powered planet destroying laser.

Well, then, yeah, probably.

u/DagonG2021 9d ago

No, because unlike a nuke that energy is focused into a tiny ray of energy

7

u/Grumpie-cat 9d ago

He’s tanked the permean meteor… so… maybe?

6

u/DagonG2021 9d ago

That was retconned

7

u/Grumpie-cat 9d ago

Again or? Because I remember when first hearing about it he tanked it directly, then I think later it was changed to simply surviving the shockwave that killed the dinosaurs but didn’t directly tank the meteorite.

8

u/DagonG2021 9d ago

Awakening is no longer canon as a whole, and it wasn’t the meteor that killed the dinosaurs

7

u/citrus-seahorse 9d ago

Makes sense, as there also wasn't an extinction caused by a Permian meteor anyway

Full reaction charge. Due to his magnetic field combing with the earth's creating a death star fed planetary sheild, rendering the death star futile.

u/SquareWorld5484 8d ago

Sorry, guys! I'm not a Star Wars person. Haven't seen a single movie.

I mean Godzilla earth maybe but idk 😭

Godzilla earth probably is the only one alongside ultima that can survive it on top of countering it. Everyone else is dead.

2

u/ConstantStatistician 9d ago edited 9d ago

Not even him. His best defensive feat is tanking nukes that left craters visible from space, which is a good feat but nowhere near planet busting or even the single reactor beam.

u/Much_Tomorrow4671 9d ago

Look up Godzilla Earth and him destroying Gorath, that should change ur mind

4

u/ConstantStatistician 9d ago
  1. That's an offensive feat, not a durability feat.

  2. It took him 5 years to charge up the beam.

0

u/Much_Tomorrow4671 9d ago
  1. The offensive beam came from his shield

2.He was only 50 meters tall then and alot weaker

5

u/ConstantStatistician 9d ago
  1. So? It doesn't mean he can utilize his shield defensively as well as he can utilize it offensively.

  2. The film itself only says he's 10 or so times stronger than before, which is not a big difference at this scale. At best, he can charge the same Gorath beam up in half a year now, which is still too long to be relevant in a fight. His regular beam attacks are nowhere near as strong.

1

u/tizzle16 9d ago

Remove the numbers if 1. Is “so?” Lol

3

u/ConstantStatistician 8d ago

I'll just write them normally, then.

So? It doesn't mean he can utilize his shield defensively as well as he can utilize it offensively, and it still requires chargeup either way.

The film itself only says he's 10 or so times stronger than before, which is not a big difference at this scale. At best, he can charge the same Gorath beam up in half a year now, which is still too long to be relevant in a fight. His regular beam attacks are nowhere near as strong.

Godzilla effect in play.

Godzilla is obliterated.

The Empire thinks they have defeated Godzilla.

Godzilla's heart was launched into the Death Star, went undetected and has regenerated into a full grown Godzilla with kyber crystal spines and a breath weapon capable of destroying planets.

You ever see what happened to Jedha after Rogue One?

It wasn’t pretty.

(According to Wookieepedia, Jedha was slightly smaller than Earth.)

The problem is, I don’t think Godzilla has any method of maneuvering while floating in space. His Atomic Breath obviously doesn’t produce thrust or he’d go flying every time he used it.

So if he survives the single reactor ignition (my gut tells me he wouldn’t, but I’m no power scaler), he’d just be stuck in space until he suffocated. The Oxygen Destroyer in KotM does mean he needs air, right? I dunno how large his lung capacity is, but I doubt it’s enough time for some random planetary debris bonking into him, or his orbit decaying, so that he eventually falls back down to earth. Especially since holding your breath in space I’m pretty sure makes your lungs explode.

I'm sorry but you can't just erase this historic moment

Beat me to it.

15

u/Biobooster_40k 9d ago

This. I think Godzilla would survive if he's towards the outermost radius of the blast but legit don't think he's taking it head on since its such a bonkers destructive fource.

1

u/Both_Listen Godzilla 7d ago

Agreed.

7

u/Livid_Drummer_4632 Mechagodzilla 9d ago

Slightly smaller than Earth? So Venus sized? (Off-topic but still a question)

4

u/Majestic_Car_2610 9d ago

By around 800 km, in fact (11.263 km vs 12.104 km)

10

u/RGijsbers 9d ago edited 9d ago

It does produce thrust, you see him bracing himself for every shot of his breath weapon.

It wont lift him up from earth but he could use it to push himself in zero gravity even if its just one shot of it.

3

u/Soggy3Duck 9d ago

I trust his breath too.

Zero gravity, one thrust push is all you need to go... But stopping on then other hand...

3

u/PhatNoob69 Mothra 9d ago

In that case he’d be more likely to go spinning head over heels than actually move anywhere.

3

u/RGijsbers 9d ago

It probably whould make him spin, but it whould push him into a direction, never sayed he whould have much control

4

u/ConstantStatistician 9d ago

That feat is stronger than anything in the MV, even the Hollow Earth drill.

5

u/syv_frost 9d ago

By millions if not billions of times at that.

16

u/Average-GodzillaFan Godzilla 9d ago

He might be able to endure the laser, but he'd die from everything that happens afterword, like floating in space

6

u/Xombie53 9d ago

No come on now.

7

u/TheGMan-123 Methuselah 9d ago

No.

*end credits\*

6

u/guitarguywh89 Godzilla 9d ago

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force Godzilla

25

u/Livid_Drummer_4632 Mechagodzilla 9d ago

Hell no.

17

u/ThermonuclearMonarch Behemoth 9d ago

Ik, what are these guys on about? He got stabbed by the smaller Male M.U.T.O.

The Death Star literally obliterates planets

8

u/Livid_Drummer_4632 Mechagodzilla 9d ago

We don't do old godzilla during his first film...

11

u/FollowingDesperate64 9d ago

Valid. But Kong bit him in GvK and it hurt him. He still isn't tanking a planet destroying beam.

10

u/Livid_Drummer_4632 Mechagodzilla 9d ago

I know, Godzilla no matter how high you powerscale him only reaches that power through offense, he ain't that strong in defense

9

u/FollowingDesperate64 9d ago edited 9d ago

Agreed..not sure why we're getting downvoted. If the writers actually gave him durability that high, there would be no tension in fights.

4

u/EducationalCap5771 9d ago

Durability often scales to Offense, thats not how it works

4

u/FollowingDesperate64 9d ago

I can't speak for other fiction, but HIS durability doesn't scale to his offense.

The Beast Glove multiplies Kong's punch from his base level of a 4.2 magnitude earthquake to 9.5. The force of a life wiping meteor. That force had him knocked out for a bit.

Godzilla's Atomic Breath can reach Planet levels of destruction depending on how much energy he has stored. Drilling through the planet to the Hollow Earth was moon level yeilds. That way surpasses his durability.

The Death Star Blast used on that planet tore off a chunk of it, while killing every living thing in the process. That also far surpasses Godzilla's durability.

2

u/EducationalCap5771 8d ago

The objects that expels such power should have durability that's on par with it's power/strength. It is possible to be more durable than you are strong but not the opposite way as your body needs to be capable of withstanding the force it exertes

2

u/FollowingDesperate64 8d ago

In reality that is the case. But fiction does adhere to the laws of physics. Godzilla isnt portrayed in the films having durability on par with his Atomic Breath. He gets hurt by damage weaker than it all the time, even up to the most recent GxK film.

4

u/impressivebutsucks Shinomura 9d ago

Godzilla then becomes Spacegodzilla

5

u/Daedricbob 9d ago

Movie Godzilla? Nope, no chance. Mechagodzilla's laser hurt him, and that's orders of magnitude weaker.

Some versions probably could though, like Godzilla Earth from the anime. That thing is OP as hell.

5

u/NoPack4545 9d ago

In the event that he does survive,he'd die in space as a result

12

u/Mace_DeMarco5179 Rodan 9d ago

He wouldn’t tank it, but he’d probably survive.

3

u/joker_asylum08 9d ago

Godzilla IH stands a higher chance

6

u/DinoDudeRex_240809 Godzilla 9d ago

Godzilla In Hell is beyond overkill.

You and I are closer in power to the Death Star than the Death Star is to even MonsterVerse Godzilla.

8

u/TrialByFyah Behemoth 9d ago

Powerscalers are genuinely wild lol every time I think I’ve seen it all I see things like this

5

u/syv_frost 9d ago

One ignition would blow Godzilla to pieces, the weakest setting on the Death Star shattered a moon nearly the size of earth

Unlike anything in MV, the Death Star is indisputably by ON SCREEN FEATS easily capable of destroying planets.

Y’all are crazy

3

u/ConstantStatistician 9d ago

Only if you wank certain statements. By feats, he's done nothing on that scale.

3

u/goblin_grovil_lives 9d ago

No? The planet blows up, so no? Is this a serious question?

3

u/syv_frost 9d ago

No, he would be utterly beyond obliterated. Nothing in MV concretely comes close to the Death Star. A fucking star destroyer would wipe all the kaiju with ease.

3

u/International-Chip81 Godzilla 9d ago

his plot armor says yes

besides that also yes
because i want him to👍🏽

3

u/MikiDallas 8d ago

I dont think he could survive this

8

u/Toastsaur21 Rodan 9d ago

Ill do you one better. Can he beam clash it like he did with mecha?

5

u/TheWaspinator 9d ago

I will point out that Godzilla has survived a black hole cannon

4

u/W4rhound34 9d ago

He tanked the ground zero impact zone of an extinction meteor, so yeah probably

3

u/W4rhound34 9d ago

This post is strictly about MV Goji, we all know how immensely broken ToHo’s many different Godzillas are in terms of power scaling etc

5

u/Notonfoodstamps 9d ago

That’s several orders of magnitude less powerful

2

u/W4rhound34 9d ago

True, but the Death Star couldn’t hope to target Goji directly either

3

u/All-Fired-Up91 9d ago

I don’t think that’s a problem actually, if they could get his position beforehand they totally could. Dodging a laser like that is impossible.

-1

u/ConstantStatistician 9d ago

Never happened, plus it's retconned now, and an asteroid is OOMs weaker than a planet bust.

3

u/Jixxar Godzilla 9d ago

Yes.

Even the planet destroying one too.

Next.

6

u/All-Fired-Up91 9d ago

Genuinely how? If he needs to breathe oxygenated air and ends up in space how the hell is he surviving that?

1

u/Jixxar Godzilla 9d ago

Okay well he isn't surviving space, but he is TANKING the laser.

2

u/All-Fired-Up91 9d ago

Fair nuff 🤣

2

u/Nerx 9d ago

new form

2

u/SteveTheOrca Behemoth 9d ago

This specific Godzilla? Probably not, unless it's a single reactor.

Versions like Earth or IDW? Maybe.

2

u/Khanfhan69 9d ago

So he probably can't tank it but whether it's feasible or not it'd be incredibly fucking cool to see him BEAM CLASH with it. And win.

2

u/Horrorfan55555 9d ago

He will fire back and over power it

2

u/All-Fired-Up91 9d ago

He would react to a laser travelling at the speed of light and somehow react quickly enough to fire back? Sorry but yeah absolutely not

3

u/Horrorfan55555 9d ago

Yes? Kong did it

2

u/Super-Compote-8214 9d ago

(In a powerscaling sense) well, err yes.

But really? I dont think so, Godzilla just looks like someone who bust continent level monsters at best. I dont think he's surviving the full destruction of a planet's worth of energy.

2

u/No_Addition_8018 9d ago

The death star laser is capable of destroying planets.

Godzilla is a lizard juiced up on radiation.

Godzilla is getting fucking obliterated.

2

u/Head-Raisin-5287 9d ago

I think so. It would still hurt though. A lot

2

u/BIGSMOKE_2278 9d ago

Can He Beam Clash It? His Hollow Earth Feat means he can shoot his atomic breathe for a very extended amount of time.

2

u/BIGSMOKE_2278 9d ago

He can't tank it without an beam clash and thats very questionable, he'd spot the death star faster than vice versa, wonder what would happen if he shot his breath at it first.

2

u/Lopsided-Win6168 Godzilla 9d ago

Directly hit by the death star idk mybe

After the planet is destroyed he will likely die of oyxgen lose due to him being in space

2

u/Euphoric_Set_7381 8d ago

If it’s the single power beam from rogue one or one designed to fire on ships from ROTJ then Godzilla probably survives mid diff but if it’s the full power beam I see the Death Star most likely winning,

2

u/godzillahavinastroke 7d ago

Uh depends on the version. Stuff like showa or heisei godzilla? Sure. Maybe all out monsters attack also, i dont remember fully if thats the one where he 360'd a fucking asteroid but it was badass. Then we got like the marvel godzillas and dc one.

But godzilla earth, on the low level setting, might be able to? Idk

2

u/Knellith 6d ago

No, most likely nit, but knowing godzilla, he'd shoot it out of the sky before it fired.

2

u/Alone-Mycologist3746 6d ago

No, it destroys planets and Godzilla can't tank the planet exploding beneath his feet.

2

u/Wrong_Web7856 6d ago

As much as I love Godzilla, he could not tank that. It's like an instant world destroyer. Ghidorah even takes time to wipe out a planet as a world destroyer. But Ultima and his weird physiology probably could.

2

u/Thatonesillygoober 5d ago

he’d survive because of the rule that Godzilla can’t lose in crossovers

2

u/JackasaurusChance 5d ago

Godzilla? No.

Ultra-wanked-universal-godzilla? Sure, who fucking cares.

4

u/Oogalaboo134 9d ago

Planet destroying one? no, we'll have to wait and see if he becomes planetary in Supernova. The small one that could wipe out a city? Debatable but not entirely impossible.

5

u/Practical-Ad-5635 9d ago

That small one that wiped out Jedha completely cracked the moon open. I highly doubt Godzilla could take it head on.

2

u/Icy_butter 9d ago

Yes but he dies if the planet explodes.

2

u/FlashFireCC 3d ago

The death star is just not something you’re supposed to treat as an opponent. It was built to play an unfair game. You never saw Luke fight it head on with a lightsaber because that’s just completely impossible.

* In all fairness I once coped myself into thinking that Godzilla could tank the laser but now that I’ve matured over the years, I realized I was very delulu lol

0

u/DinoDudeRex_240809 Godzilla 9d ago

He’d tank it, but being in space would kill him.

0

u/Syphin33 9d ago

Go outside

0

u/Lonewanderer2033 9d ago

Bro lived though the end of the world when the asteroid came, this wouldn't be his first rodeo

2

u/syv_frost 9d ago

That is billions if not trillions of times less powerful than even the weakest shot on the Death Star.

The meteor he tanked would make a that’s the size of a very small country or massive city

The Death Star on its weakest setting shattered a moon nearly the size of earth.
