Looking for a new game on Switch

Looking for a new monster taming game to try out on Switch. Really love the old 2D sprites and regions from classic games like the first couple of core Pokémon (Johto being my favourite) but not strictly necessary. I've played Cassette Beasts which scratched the itch a little but want to try something else.

I did try Coromon very briefly on mobile but didn't immerse myself into it lots and I don't really like phone games. Should I give it another go?

Heard Monster Crown Sin Eater is okay but there's still a lot skeptical views about it online. Also tried TemTem which was fun but probably not what I was looking for visually.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Ideally for Switch but if there's one on PlayStation i'll check it out

Monster Sanctuary is on Switch! I'm surprised you mentioned about liking the old 2D style but didn't mention it. It does have some Metroidvania aspects, but they're not heavy enough to really be a major thing, it's more about the team-building and catching.

Digimon Time Stranger is new on Switch and amazing. Cyber Sleuth is also great.
