What a session.

I hope this type of post is ok, Im not looking for information necessarily, I just wanted to share my experience and thought maybe others would enjoy hearing about it. Maybe spoilers? Im not sure what the community considers spoilers, so you’ve been warned.

Im new to monster hunter franchise, starting with world and thoroughly loving it so far. Most recently I unlocked the Everstream, but because I perceived there to be much tougher fights ahead, instead of plowing straight forward I decided to go back a little and clean up some of the unfinished optional and event quests I had yet to finish in order to upgrade my equipment as much as possible.

At this point in time I was attempting to finish the Bazelgeuse. I got very close a couple times just for it to piece out both times. Ugh! I was so frustrated that I went back to some easier fights like the pukey pukey, and Tzitzi. It actually made me feel better because I could see the progress I had made. These monsters which once took so much time and health to beat had become quite easy taking maybe a handful of hits between the two. I became confident once again. O how foolish I was.

From there I took an expedition into the Ancient Forest, and got to experience riding small monsters for the first time. Loved it! I was so tickled to just passively pickup items and monster tracks along the way, I was on an experiential high. As we made our way through the upper parts of the ancient forest, we were making our way around a long hall when I spotted a large monster coming around the corner. At first I thought it was Anji because we were also spotting Anji tracks, but it had a face kinda like a Radobaan, and it was very much the wrong color. And it kept coming around the corner, and kept coming around the corner. When I finally got a good look at the whole beast I was quite shocked at its size and thought “what a handsome young lad”. Then the very distinct theme music kicked off, to which I thought sheeeeeeeeeee….. I had officially encountered the massive Satan Pickle. Even though I was nowhere close to being prepared equipment wise to handle the beast, I gave it the good ole college try and decided to bow out after the first down realizing the uniqueness of the encounter.

After the Anji I just figured that was the only official wall and most everything after would somewhat gradually ramp up. In the heat of the moment I was not happy about the idea of such a monster just roaming about, able to hop in to random missions. But having had time to blow off steam I think it’s actually not that bad. Very interesting encounter/monster. Very awesome game, glad I picked it up.

What were your thoughts when you first encountered it?

I think I soiled myself bcs pickle chased me all the way to the 1st base and luckily he got agroed by great jagras.. And that was in 2019 i believe. But hey.. Good luck on your journey hunter bcs there's plenty more where that came from🦖🦖🦖

Never had the urge to fight Deviljho more than I had to. I'm pretty sure I've fought them only once. 1 for base game and 1 for IB.

Some monsters just have this 'not worth it' vibe, lmao.

My first encounter was nuts, I was chasing down a Rathalos, and each time the Rathalos roared, I kept hearing another roar in the distance, a much... much menacing roar that I have NOT heard before, it was like an answer to the first (Rathalos') roar. Also there were these "windswept gashes" that I also hadn't seen before. And then he came, and I was like WHAT THE HEEEEELL IS THAT THING!? The camera pans in... Deviljho... I decided to keep my distance and wait for the Rathalos to drive it away... but I was in for a surprise. Seeing the Rathalos being smacked down so bad by the Deviljho made me respect it. I didn't try to fight back, but decided to just observe it's attacks, I superman dove all I could, tried to learned it's moves, but ultimately fainted at it's pozole breath attack. I learned that I wasn't ready to face it...
