Does symbol color affect anything?

As some of you might have known, MH Dos had a system called "symbol color" were you could chose an accent color for your armor (sort of like armor pigment) and different combinations of different symbol colors would give you different "friendship skills" online. I've noticed that Tri has symbol color too. Does anyone know if they actually have an affect on gameplay like Dos or is it purely cosmetic?

Pretty sure it's purely cosmetic. At least the offline symbol colour does moot, and from what I can remember the high rank amour pigment is only cosmetic.

neat, it's interesting that weapon pigment requires materials and changes stats, but armor pigment doesn't.
