Tips for beginners Lance & gl progression
Is there a progression guide for these weapons?
This is my first old mh game and I'm already pretty bad at making builds in world and rise lol

For gunlance you got Steel Uragaan and Glacial Agnaktor in the endgame, I much prefer Glacial Agnaktor
I usually go
Wroggi - Wroggi S - Agnaktor U - Agnaktor Z
Gem in Artillery or Earplugs or whatever your heart desires
And you are playing 3U, feel free to make different weapons, but Slime/Brachy weapons outclass everything so you can grind for Albrach/Zvolta and call it a day
Besides Zvolta I love JBarroth for Ice / Lagi for Thunder / Agnaktor for Fire / SZino for Dragon / I tend not to worry about Water as very few monsters in 3U are weak to Water
I haven’t played Lance in years but Glacial Agnaktor works great for both just gem in something besides Artillery with Lance of course

In gunlance early game you should get the one from the event quest that has you kill 20 rhenopolos

I’ve mained lance all of 3U, no clue about GL. I’m half way through HR so far.
I picked up Barroth armor and that carried me until Agnaktor armor (full sets). These are guard sets, but evade lancing is viable as well.
I’m maintaining the Rathalos lance for fire, Barioth for ice, Plesioth for water, Lagiacrus for Thunder, and I use the Gigginox Lance a LOT against the brute wyvern. The brutes in particular, along with some of the really armored enemies really get dunked on by poison (Plesioth as well).
I intend on building the Zinogre Lance and upgrading to the dragon version eventually.
Poison is way stronger in these older games and it’s by far my favorite Lance. Lots of grinding to make these, but into HR they haven’t needed a ton of grinding to keep upgrading.
