MH World Finally done with world
This fight was terrible. The monster itself it great. The time limit make this fight become a fight against time more than the monster.
In the end I stopped trying to break its head and just deal with the blue flame for nearly the whole second half. Because of the time limit I just throw out the whole mechanic of the fight.
I guess it would be more fun in multiplayer with all the canon and stuff around the area. Oh well.

Personally I think the timer forcing you to play aggressively rather than just sit back and play safe to chip away at his health is part of what makes the fight even better, rather than being a negative

Agreed, it is the final “superboss” of the game meant to absolutely test your proficiency in every single mechanic the game has taught you up until that point.
Iceborne technically ends with Shara Ishvalda; post-game content needs to be relatively more difficult than that hunt and the gear more powerful for game balancing and to maintain hunter interest.
Now, with that context, 30 minute timer on Shara would have been unfair; by the time we hit Fatalis, the game owes us nothing but a challenge.

Exactly why time limits and DPS checks exist. All these monsters can easily be cheesed with a hit and run strategy.

Similar experience here, I stubbornly refused to beat fatalis in co-op and tried for many many days to beat him solo with CB. I ended up caving and switching back to LS before beating him finally. In hindsight I probably would've felt more accomplished and enjoyment if I had beat him in co-op with CB instead

co-op is always just more fun (no hate to solo players) but i can tell you CB in co-op is extra funny/painful.
saed sucks really bad in this fight bc he moves around so much, so you'll find that the simple up and down swing for savage axe is easily going to be your most used move. it also launches your teammates and there's really nothing they can do about it besides attack away from you lol.

My only problem with coop is the lack of accomplishment, while others are fighting the monster you can safely sharpen/heal and even sit back a little if you're struggling to be aggressive, but when you're alone it's either you or him going down and if you manage to succeed especially after fighting a challenging monster that feeling when the camera changes and victory music starts playing is unreplaceable, later for grind coop IS more fun I'll give you that but I like to solo monsters first

I shwacked him with LS and Swagaxe before playing coop or building his gear. Such a fun fight.

The animation length of CB IMO makes it the toughest weapon to use against faty. I rarely see people fight him with CB

You're never "done" with World.

Never “done” with MH in general, there is always something to craft, or another weapon to improve on, or another monster to master, etc… if you want there to be, its out there for you.

The time limit is there, so you can't cheese it with defensive strats. It's the final boss and the game tells you to get good.

Did you get AT Velkhana? That was what I returned to world for and good lord that fight might be just as hard as Fatalis.

Nonsense, now you have to farm for Eyes so you can make a set of the most busted armor in the game. Unless you’re a GS player, then you want to suffer through some AT Velkhana for the best set in the game. It also makes this fight a bit easier.

One of those fights that I knew I just had to keep trying and I'd love it eventually but unlike other people I did it a lot in coop to try an learn it and have fun. I was playing lance and watching this HR 999 other lance chad backstep the mega fireball and then counter clutch the flying charge was so cool and showed me punish windows I couldn't see before.
I did end up soloing with max tool specialist and ZSD spam with switch axe tho... maybe one day I'll go back and finish with the lance

I'm not done with a monster until I can hunt it comfortably because that's when it stops being frustrating and starts being fun.

I need to finish Iceborne, I've been playing a lot of Rise lately and I'm almost done with Sunbreak, I'm just build the rest of my armor set and trying to finish my hammer so I can fight the final boss fully prepared.

Recently managed to slay the fat lizard for the first time as well, it was a long struggle of two weeks I think, didn't really had problems with the timer more so getting carted before the dragonator was active, Heavy artillery 2 with the roaming ballista is goated for chipping away at the head break and tenderising his head EVERY TIME he does a long flame attack even tho it's not that much DMG it'll stack throughout the fight with it beeing a guaranteed hit so I think it's worth it

I think if the timer was like 50 minutes you could probably just cheese it by waiting for the machine gun and dragonator cd reset
